This book was much better than the first book. I love mysteries and this one kept me hooked until the end. I thought the writing was overly descriptive and dramatic but I got used to it as I read. This author obviously has more experience than the author of the second book which I really didn't like at all. I liked that the story wasn't so obvious. Of course I knew which character was trouble but I didn't know all the details like I did with the first book (less than 50 pages in). I can say I am glad I read this story.
I found this book and the first from the series at a used bookstore. After reading the first and second books I didn't think I wanted to read any more of them. The idea of the old Victorian house with an attic full of treasures and mysteries to unravel intrigued me. I finally picked this one up and decided to read it anyway. I'm glad I did and now I want the others too.
