The Plague Stones

The Plague Stones is a story of ghosts, family, and loyalty. After their 14-year-old son Toby is the victim of a violent break in, in their small rented flat. Trish and Peter accept the offer that no-one could refuse: a mortgage free beautiful home with a huge garden, all set within a village, a close community, and a position as one of the village's trustees. All inherited from a very distant aunt Trish barely remembers. It all seems too impossibly good to be true. From the very first night in the house, Toby realises that there is more to this house than he ever could have imagined!

A tale of horror, history and folklore that has you completely gripped from the first page; the author immerses you in a world where the black plague seems incredibly real, and anything is possible.

Each character is written so well that you cannot help becoming emotionally invested in each of them. The author has made this story so captivating, tense and thought-provoking, that I found it almost impossible to put down.

However, I have rated this book 4 stars. Even though the ending was good and thought provoking especially about current circumstances and coincidences that is going on in present day, I felt that I wanted to know more about the family.

This is the first James Brogden book that I have read, and I will definitely be adding more of his books to my book collection after enjoying The Plague Stones so much!
