The Porpoise

The book begins with a plane crash, a man loses his wife but his unborn daughter survives. The man becomes obsessed with his daughter, leading to an incestuous relationship. This is not an easy read as the story then interchanges between the present and the mythological story of Pericles. The writing is great, the story is extremely ambitious, and it's a rewarding experience to stick with it.
