Our August theme for my regular book club is “Tess Garritson” - Read any book of hers and discuss at the next meeting.
This was a decent mystery. A tad bit predictable - I guessed both of the villians of the piece before they were uncovered. Garritson knows her stuff - sometimes too well. I found it difficult to get started on the book as just three pages in she gives a fairly explicit description of an autopsy. Since I never intend to attend an autopsy and be able to remember it (the only one I hope to ever be at is my own!), and medical descriptions make me a bit nervous, I took the first few chapters slowly, and finally braced myself for the rest of the book.
Recommended to anyone who likes mysteries, conspiracies, and accurate medical depictions.
Two nuns have been murdered in a convent but who did it? The majority of this story is from Maura Isles medical examiner point of view. Rizzoli almost seems to be the sidekick in this one. Ex husbands and lovers come into both of their lives complicating this mystery even more. I enjoyed the story though. I will be continuing to read this series.
I fell in love with Tess Gerritsens' writing style after I read The Surgeon. Some of her books from this same series aren't as appealing as her first one but this book - The Sinner is absolutely amazing. The plot itself is so interesting that you can easily binge this book in a day or two. Character development is so great it's crazy. You get a feeling you really know those characters and after all they are very relatable.
