Break out your tissues, you're going to need them! A re-occurring theme in To Your Eternity is the growth you experience from pain, hardship and loss, and this volume nails that home in a very heartbreaking way. The series definitely has a very melancholy feel and you realize from the very first volume that there aren't going to be happily ever afters, but this particular one was very emotional. I think every volume just continues to get better and better. I see some parallels to Kino's Journey a bit, which I also loved, despite it's dark and melancholy overtones as well. There are some lessons to learn through it though and a journey that continues to surprise and engage. Highly recommended all around!
