This book was so cute!! I haven't read any other Andy Carpenter novels but this book held up as a stand alone novel. Andy takes on a case, reluctantly, when Derek Moore, one of the rescue's volunteers is arrested at the annual Tara foundation Christmas party. It turns out Derek isn't his real name but he is being arrested for murder. Derek AKA Bobby is in witness protection and all the evidence points right to him.

The book was brill! Andy has an unconventional way of being a lawyer but he gets the job done! The more he digs, the more danger he puts himself in. I love his team! I definitely enjoyed the writing but I would have loved more Christmas themes. It was a solid mystery that ties in gangs and the seedy criminal underbelly! It was mostly from Andy's perspective with flashes of what the bad guys are up to. All in all a 4 star read!
