Uncommon Decency: Christian Civility in an Uncivil World

Uncommon Decency: Christian Civility in an Uncivil World

1992 • 187 pages

Short review: For all of the scriptural injunctions about loving your enemy and ‘do to others...' Christians can be quite uncivil with people with whom they disagree. Mouw has the best book I have found so far about the how and why of being civil with those whom with disagree. This is not a ‘be nice' book. It is a book that encourages strong beliefs, but also a high level of civil dialogue. It is mostly about being civil with non-Christians, but also has some good discussion about how to be civil with other Christians with whom you disagree. This is an important topic, I wish there were more focus on it.
