A very good read about how one person can change everything and can overcome any challenge laid before them. There are some pretty dark themes covered by the earlier half of the book but it is done with a sense of humility and serves to make the latter half of the novel all the more uplifting.

A chilling insight into the life on the front lines during the Great War and how one young man tries to find his place in a new and bloody world. A haunting, but worthwhile read.

Potiki is an emotional and insightful story. Focussing on a Māori family and their whānau defending their ancestral land from modern day land developers. This book highlighted the importance of simplicity, respecting the land on which we live and the great feats that we can achieve when we work together. The story is told through the eyes of different members of the family and spans many years. At times, it is emotionally raw but also has many moments of joy. A thoroughly excellent read.

A cool little book that show how the past and the future can impact the present.

A really informative and inciteful look at the mass extinctions and what it could mean for the future of the planet and for humans in the next few hundred million years.
