I loved the prose of the book, the way the narrator sees London and the characters. They were beautiful and real.
But the ending was rushed, it wasn’t really an ending, 3/4 of the book has more action be the rest and it ends with more questions than answers.
Coming from a prose that resembles poetry for most of the book, that captures your attention to end fast, without description in a rush way was a disservice to the story and the characters in it.

Beautiful book about 5 women living in a Kabul during war times.
It treats of themes of family, friendship and bonds forged in unlikely places. The characters are fleshed out and you want to root for them but the story feels rushed, especially the end.
Suddenly everything comes to a climax in very little time and minds are changed quickly in a non believable way.
Still a beautiful read but I feel that a lot of important themes and subjects were just glossed over, a missed opportunity to be a great book.

Loved it, such a powerful tale of family, sacrifices and love. The writing is well paced and the characters well defined, you end up falling in love with them as the protagonist does.
The world feels alive and vivid. It is a short story well written, feels like a warm cup of tea in your favorite sofa. It isn’t a groundbreaking book and it won’t win literary awards but if you want to feel loved and happy I would recommend you read it.

Loved the book, the female protagonist is likable and really flawed struggling to deal with trauma and life as a black woman. You can’t help but root for her but you also get to see the pain that she causes because she can’t deal with her own pain and trauma.
Finished in a day, really beautiful.

Crippling, gothic and interesting. Found it fascinating and the tension was perfect, slowly figuring it out and never feeling like it treated you like a dumb reader. Loved the characters and the level of creepiness.
