Following the Just For Show, rom com, Jae introduces us to Claire's sister's, Steph, who for the first time in her life may come across a woman that will make her want more than a casual relationship!
A very heartfelt story, slow burn, very well written as always and narrated by Lori Prince who always makes everything sound so good!
Highly recommend for a fun listening or a quick read to remove you from a reading slump!
3.5⭐
While reading more books of Christina & Lauren, the cowriting becomes more obvious.
The first half of the book, is a happy relaxed and even a bit funny rom com that could easy see becoming a netflix movie.
And then the chaos comes, like reading a totally different book, with a bit of a stupid plot, just to fill pages and pages. It ruined my feeling good time, it made no sense and was even considering just leaving it unfinished.
Why oh why, didn't they just continue with a few more cheesy scenes and happy tones?
Sure, I was drawn to this book due Haunting Adeline series.
Yes, I listen to the audiobook of it in just a few days. But even though I found myself enjoying the first chapters I soon got frustrated with it.
The way Swayers character changes from being a badass woman to a naive girl, the problematic plot that sometimes makes no sense, as truly two clever and strong physically and not only, people will be OK of being locked up every day without any reason, believing in ghosts without suspicion... and many more.
Yes, it could be a marvelous piece of work, but unfortunately it disappointed me and I can't get over the many unsatisfied plot holes it has.
So disappointing. I wasn't expecting a book that would change my life but I was expecting a full story, fill with romance and sweet moments.
But we got a story that felt unfinished and in a hurry to publish. The ending was not only expected but was also very simple and had no true emotion.
I like love stories, I like to read sweet books in between heavy reads to help me relax and prepare my mind and soul for more difficult reads. But this was a story very fast written.
The first 2 parts were really good and interesting and then it got really boring.
I would say its a little beach read but on the other hand you have so many more options.
Story ⭐⭐⭐
Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️
This is the story of a guy obsessed over a girl that he only hooked up with her a couple of times and her instead of running 💨 away, she felt for him!
I love Elle Kennedy's writing style and this is what saves this book. But the 1st on this series was definitely by far better!
I ll be reading the rest of the series. I just hope they are based on more real relationships.
This is my first Harper Bliss book... Saying that, I may have started off with the wrong book.
I am trying to rate this book, not according to its story, but the way it's written and the development of the characters etc.
I was drawn to this book, and although I hate the cheating trope, as I was cheated in a couple of my past relationships, I didn't feel the need to DNF it. I read it in a go, and I liked the way the relationship developed, the awakening of the feelings, and the idea that not everything was easy. And this was a solid 4 star for me. Until, the ending...
SpoilerThat been said... the ending made me through the book in the air... Not even a cheesy movie would dare to give that ending.
Be prepared for a mental rollercoaster, and a long story that will captivate your heart, until it doesn't.
I love Meghan Quinn, don't get me wrong. She is my go to author when I need to relax or to have a palette cleanser in between strong books full of fantasy etc!
But why does the man always needs to be the one to fuck up? I mean, we all felt in love with Cory Potter, and he is not even my style. SpoilerTo change his character, his style like that, you just screw up the whole image of him. Their issues, their fight, doesn't fit him, isn't the Cory we loved. And talking about love, she doesn't love him also, because she can't support him, she doesn't try, she doesn't see what he is going through
I know we need a fight, something to break us, but she could definitely be the one that run away, especially with her fears, her low self esteem and her way of acting through the book. Unfortunately, I want to flush the last 30% of this book down the pipes and change the whole last part of it.
Oh well, of to another book of Quinn, one that will remind me why I love her so much.
I really enjoyed the story and the idea behind it.
However, when you pretend to write a historical fiction is important to get the facts of history accurate (DNA test I am looking at you) and more mistakes that I came across.
Also, the whole plants have feelings as well, was ridiculous.
Then we go at the story, I wanted to follow the story up to the end, but some sub-stories did nothing for me. And I even thought of skipping some parts of the story.
I don't mind the fact that 6.30 was anthropomorphic, but come on, they are a smart family, with a dog that learnt more than 300 words?
I am so confused on how to rate this book, as it feel like I am rating the whole series in one go.
And while it started with a slow burn and a 5 ⭐, I ve ended up wanting to rate some of them a 3 or even a 2!
It got slow and boring in a lot of phases, I swear the whole series had about 500 pages too much that it needed. Going back and forward and ending with a rush fight, that didn't made a lot of sense. These books has too many pages and yet they left us with so many questions and plot holes.
Omf, I had so many hopes for this, after the first book and I was so disappointed with the last book.

(The phone scene 🥵)
“There's nothing I won't do to find my way back to you, and if that means I burn down some buildings or kill a couple of assholes, I don't care so long as it gets me here.”
And there you go, if you want someone that will burn the whole world for her, you have to look no further than Luc Thompson!
“That so long as I have you next to me, everyone else can get fucked during the end of the world.”
Luc and Aurelia are fated mates since birth until Fate (pun intended) wants them apart and he was the good guy, until they force him not to be, and he becomes an unstoppable “bad” guy to save the woman he loves.
Jojo K Scott created a modern supernatural universe, full of vampires, demons, magicians and other species, and most importantly mixed breeds. In a world were ethereal species must live with humans, were human and non human trafficking thrives and has sprinkled it with hot, steamy scenes 🔥🔥🔥 and core killing 💀💀💀. She has mix together everything we love in dark fantasy, with the touch her and you die trope, escaping a cult and finishes this first book in a glimpse of an apocalypse start!
I can't wait for the second part!
PS. Please check TW! There are a lot!
I love this writer and have been going through her books like a true admirer.
The Huntress does not disappoint and following the writer's way of getting you through the story you keep traveling back and forward in time. The only negative comment is that is longer than needed and a few of the chapters could have been way smaller.
Erm... This was my first book of R.F. Kuang, and I think I f***ed up because if I didn't had already the Poppy War and Babel in my audiobooks, I wouldn't have picked another book by her.
Her writing style is perfect, but this book didn't do anything for me. I didn't care about June, and I know I was supposed to feel frustrated with her, this was supposed to create bad feeling from me about her, but nothing was coming.
And the ending... oh well, its like this review. Just not anywhere and it gave nothing.
I started this series after reading a lot... A lot... Of positive reviews.
During the first book, to be honest, I loved the idea behind it, the mystery, the different characters.
But I Oli's pessimism and constant repetitions of self loath is getting on my nerves.
Hopefully it will get better.
It's written beautifully and has an interesting plot.
However, I found it a bit boring as time was passing and struggled to finish it.
Beatrice is supposed to be 51, but she is presented like she is 60-65. Her thinking process, the way she presents herself, the way she is speaking. In my mind I constantly had the idea of a 60year old with a 30year old assistant.
I didn't feel the sparks between them, I was missing so much of the falling in love, and instead of enjoying a romance I felt like I was watching a mathematical equation.
I had so much expectations of this book, but unfortunately for me it felt really flat.
Story ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Audio ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Do yourself a favour and don't read a lot about this books plot, spoilers etc. It will ruin everything for you. The basics are a marriage out of necessity, an age gap and struggling with mental health issues with the proper sensitivity (therefore reading the TW is a necessity) and no 3rd person in their middle.
Loved both of the characters, loved the story and the way everything was handled. It was a bit of a slower pace for me, but it didn't take away from the book nor I was bored. The smutty scenes were hot and added to the story instead of just existing.
The audio version was done excellent, but if aching romance is your go to, you will enjoy this book in any form.
And Jude ... Give him to me...
I love so much the idea behind this book and I think Molly J. Bragg, will deliver masterpieces in the future. These series could have been so much more, and I am sad she rushed to print these books, but the story, the idea, the characters, the world building was chef's kiss!
Her writing needs some work, the dialogues were dull, it was like “lalalala” Naomi said “Lalalala” Anika said, “lalalala” Naomi said and so on! And a lot of things were repeated again and again, but truly, I do recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a sci-fi, fantasy story, utterly enjoyed it!
Some books don't experience the love they deserve! I don't know why this isn't more known or more recommended, but I am glad I found it and I am ready to go into the other 2 of this universe.
Yes, I don't mind the monsters, aliens etc relationships! I like the idea of queer superheroes and the world building is very interesting. I loved their story and their connection.
The author had an excellent idea in her mind, what the book missed is more of relationship building and feelings, to make you more connect to their story and a lot of editing. I got frustrated at the how many times their names were mentioned in a single page and how flat the dialogues were. Overall I ll follow the author as I believe with time and experience she will build more fun stories and will eventually give a masterpiece.
I don't have the time to sit down and read like I want to. So audiobooks, are now my go to, this book was narrated by Saskia Maarleveld, and wish there was a way to give her 5 stars for the amazing job she does, making you travel in the book and seeing the story, like it's a movie.
The book is interesting, you want to find out more and more what will happen next and the raw details of what the women offered in the big wars in not something you often read.
I only wished the ending didn't fell so rushed and expected.
Almost to DNF this one, but I really want to pull through and finish the series. But f#@* I can't stand Oli crying and self loathing any more, and the fact that we don't know what she is hiding, and why, and all these, is getting very tiring. I mean, all of them have proven not to care of what her power is, so why is she so much still trying to hide things and doesn't sit to explain.
The plot holes are getting bigger and I am so damn pissed, because this series had all the potential of becoming something great. The idea is so perfect, but the storyline is lacking.
Also, when of her bonds loses a very important person, I want to smash her head on the wall for thinking only herself, how much she misses her parents and that he doesn't treat her good... she is a selfish person and I will not change my mind.
I love when queer books aren't about coming out, accepting their identity etc. I love discovering more and more books that treat their LGBTQ characters normal, like they are part of the community and society.
Yes is a cheesy rom com, with ideas taken from MLF love stories but I like the fact that I can finally relax and listen to a story about queer people without the coming out stress etc.
Yes it's predictable - to a certain degree - yes everything is too easy, etc but if you need a palate cleanser after a hard book, look no further
I missed stories like this. Full of romance, typical sunshine and grumpy characters. Books that are ideal to enjoy at the beach or to relax at home.
It may not be perfect but hey who is?
This is the “psychological” story of those of us that belong in the LGBTQ community, raised in the 80s and 90s, or even the 00s in my country.
I am not sure why this books piles up so much bad reviews. Yes, maybe the writers note should be at the front but, this would take away from the weird awkward feelings you get while writing it. Realising that those in their 40s and 50s went through all these feelings and situations while growing up...
Its slow paced, yes I would prefer it if it was less pages, but I liked it enough to say its worth for those that wish to explore how things were before gay and lesbian books were everywhere, how teenagers felt when realising they weren't only falling in love with the same sex.
A 40 year old pansexual, that allowed herself to discover and accept he sexuality when she was 25...
I was going for a 3, maybe a 3.5 ⭐✨ and the ending ruined Alex for me, and I just wanted to through this book away.
You can't create a grumpy, soul destroying man and make him into a clingy boyfriend.
