See allThe story pulled me in initially but then the plot line jumped all around date wise and with characters. There were some interesting connections made in the end, but it was hard for me to follow when the dates jumped all around.
Overall it was meh. I connected with one character and similar situation(s), but I felt like this was almost a high school assignment that I just had to finish and didn't fully enjoy.
There were pages/chapters where I just couldn't get into the book and places that left me unable to stop. Overall a good book but far from a favorite. I'd still recommend it to people who are into this type of book (crime, missing person, murder? Etc.). Had a few unexpected parts but nothing too far fetched. Reminded me of a previous relationship in parts and definitely brought up some memories about controlling, manipulative people.
Very enjoyable read. Some graphic scenes, but that's to be expected in a kidnapping/thriller book.
Great, engaging read with twists and turns through the story. I definitely had a moment or two of woooow... and stopping to tell my (totally uninterested) husband about it. When given a rundown of characters and major actions towards the end, he said something to the effect of “whoa... interesting” but he's not much of a reader. Definitely a recommended read for anyone interested in murder/mystery/crime/parenting.
Kind of read like a high school report paper. Paragraphs are not indented which messed with my head and flow of reading. Never really heard much on these before (which was the hope) but I don't think this was the deep dive I had kind of hoped for. There was another mistype I saw while reading (can't recall where) and the sentence leads on to
nothing. About like that sentence. It flowed, but the top line was half taken up, then it went to the next line?!?
“...thrived as he
executed (page not known). There was another mistype as well on page 88 with the same thing.
“...after her
murder.”
Weird but it bothered me. This just wasn't the home run I had hoped for.
