Damien is sure Grace loves him—until she vanishes right before their wedding. Searching for answers, he finds a newspaper article with her photo claiming she died years ago under the name Leanne. As Damien unravels layers of family secrets, he discovers dangerous deceptions that could prove deadly.
The blurb hooked me as I love a good psychological thriller, and the short, alternating chapters kept me turning pages, but the story fell short. While initially confusing, I eventually adjusted to the shifting names and characters.
My main issue was with the plot. Subplots were left unresolved or rushed, making key elements feel unfinished. The big plan between Leanne and Tasha dragged on, with an unsatisfying payoff. Most characters were unlikable, and my sympathy shifted frequently as the story progressed.
When the physical confrontations began and motives were revealed, it felt forced and implausible. Grace’s choices were baffling, and the entire conflict could have been resolved with a single honest conversation. The plot twists seemed contrived. While the concept was intriguing, the slow build and rushed conclusion led to a disappointing ending.

Alright, so I picked this up because of #booktok and how they raved on it. By no means was it a bad book, it was good, I think that there needed to be more plot development. If you’re looking for spicy scenes in every chapter this is 100% for you, but I definitely like plot development with my spice. I will reiterate it is spice heavy, thick, consuming almost. This is an intense read so I would definitely check your trigger warnings at the cover because it isn’t for the faint of heart.

This was such a good read! While it was 475p I felt like it just flew by. There wasn’t any lulls in the story that bored me to where I felt like putting the book down, quite opposite actually I literally had such a hard time taking breaks from reading it. John is a tool, Kim is a see you next Tuesday, I love Evie and Harvey they are such a vibe, Connor is the friend every girl needs, then there’s ‘Nora’ and ‘Teddy’ *swoon*. I loved Nora and Teddy, the way they brought the best out in each other while still being able to be snarky and sling witty banter. The plots twists blew my mind I was not expecting them at all, one of them when it was about to happen I kind of guessed but I was still shooketh. I’m hoping to see a budding romance with Connor and Evie in the future!

From the moment I cracked open this book, it owned me—mind, heart, soul. Every part of me screamed that what I was reading was so wrong, but did that stop me? Nope. I was hooked, cheering for these twisted, fascinating characters to make it, against all odds.
And just when things got seriously juicy and I was turning pages like my life depended on it—bam! It was over. And I was left staring at the last page, desperate for more. If this is the kind of wild, addictive storytelling Violet Rose brings to the table, then sign me up for everything she writes. I’m already counting down until her next book drops!

When I tell you I devoured this book, I mean I could not put this down to save my life. It is hard to believe that this is Hannah-Louisa’s debut novel. Everleigh and Tylan had me hooked from the very first page. The story’s pacing is expertly handled, maintaining a relentless momentum that pulls the reader deeper into its web of suspense and mystery. Just when I felt confident in my predictions, Hannah-Louisa skillfully upended them with unexpected twists that left me stunned. “Savage Keepsakes” by Marla York features dual first-person perspectives and does not promise a conventional happy ending. The story delves into themes of darkness and hidden truths, building tension around Lucy pursued by a sinister, masked figure Billy her step uncle. The book blends psychological and physical terror, appealing to readers of gritty, intense gory horror stories.
This was probably one of the most bloody gory books I’ve ever read. I felt like I was in half an episode of Criminal Minds when it just tells you all about the killer. This definitely was not a traditional HEA. The 2nd epilogue was fascinating for sure. Overall, I definitely liked this book, if you’re into serial killers, blood & gore this book will definitely be your jam!

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK. I waited so long to read this, from the first trope graphic I saw I said “yup, I need that in my life.” I was not wrong. Dee absolutely smashed it out of the park with this. I was consumed by this book from the dedication pages. Rio and Ivory where do I even start…
Rio and Ivory are the ultimate portrayal of true enemies-to-lovers, torn between rival families, and their tumultuous relationship is nothing short of mesmerizing. Dee has woven these characters into a symphony of raw intensity and depth, with each page capturing their evolution like a dance that is equal parts breathtaking and heartbreaking. For anyone who has ever loved with a ferocity that makes the thought of loss unbearable, this story will strike a chord straight to your soul.
Ivory is the embodiment of wit, courage, and unapologetic fire, while Rio—prepare yourself—is destined to be your next irresistible, morally grey obsession. Picture this: tall, dark, inked from neck to knuckles, exuding danger, and armed with a razor-sharp tongue that could cut glass. His relentless dedication to Ivory and his family had me spellbound from the start. And the way he handles those who dare threaten his world? Unflinchingly savage. The heat Rio brings? Simply god-tier, leaving sparks that linger long after the final page.
Thank you Dee for writing such an amazing masterpiece. It was absolute perfection.

This was a quick, enchanting read filled with plenty of Christmas magic. Eli is stuck in a monotonous routine, dreading another cold winter and holiday season until one night, Angelina, Santa’s Chief Spirit Officer, walks into his bar. Before he knows it, Eli finds himself tasked with restoring the Christmas spirit to Baytown—with a little help from some holiday magic.
Overall, I thought this was a cute quick read. Eli and Angelina spicy very early on with no real character development, which confused me, there could had been a tad more introduction in there. I did enjoy Eli turning from Scrooge to Mr. Christmas Spirit. If you’re looking for a spicy Christmas Romance novella, I’d recommend giving this one a read. I’m going to give the rest of the series a go once they come out. The only downside to novellas I always want more!

Dean & Rosie really had me on edge
Dean and Rosie were meant to be together since high school. Although dating Rosie's sister Emilia senior year, Rosie was in love with her and he with her. 10 years later they get their happily ever after, with some bumps in the road. Dean discovers family secrets and poor Rosie almost dies. There is so much character and plot development in this book, I ate it up! Such a good book, so far better than Defy & Vicious!
What a nice light summer romance!
This is not my normal genre, I chose this book for a square on my book club bingo board, otherwise, I'd never finish! I'm so glad I chose this book, it made me think of those Christmas time small town Hallmark/lifetime movies but make it summer time. I really thought Hallie would end up with Gavin, but I'm so glad I was wrong. ‘Summer at Firefly Beach' is such a light lovely summer romance. Definitely give this a read if you need a good feel good book.
So over all this is a really good book, however, the repeating chapters in different characters POV threw me for a loop. Other than that it was a good read!
One of the worst books I have ever read....
1. It isn't long enough
2. the writing is juvenile at best
3. There isn't enough substance
4. just WTF
I'm glad that this was offered with KU, I would have been upset if I paid for this book.
First and foremost, definitely check your triggers at the door. This book is heavily laden with scenes that can and probably will trigger those who are sensitive to them.
First thoughts, I need more... more of everything. This felt like such a tease
I LOVED this. I don't think I've ever read a mafia romance where the FMC was the one actively in the mafia. Since this was a novella, it was fast paced without losing any character or plot development which I appreciate as a reader. I didn't raise any expectations going into this as I haven't explored too many novellas as I enjoy longer novels. I would love to see this turned into a longer novel and follow their story.
Jax and Cam fall in love while she intentionally drags out his tattoo appointments. Cam knows she's the heir to the McMally Mafia yet that doesn't deter him from pursuing her and gaining acceptance from her father.
TW's: explicit sexual content, blood, physical violence, gun violence, torture, kidnapping, physical and mental abuse, lastly death.
I wanted to love this book... I really did. Some parts were great maybe 20% the other 80% just felt like fluff. The ending was not great at all for the book to be that long for. A book this size I should have finished in a day or so, it took well over 3 weeks to finish it because I kept putting it down. I hope that the rest of the authors books are not like this.
Another cute relatable story!
Oh I love Chase and Zoey! I loved reading about little Verity, having a 4m old myself I could relate to those moments. I had a feeling Zoey would find out about Tommy's plan to marry her off to chase because they kept talking about it out loud and she was destined to walk in on a conversation. Chase and Zoey were thrust together when he returned to town and needed a place to crash. Chase supported and helping Zoey after her incident drawing them together and making them fall in love with each other. Another fantastic book by Danielle Baker, down to earth and relatable. I'm definitely going to recommend this series to my book groups!
Tropes: Brothers Best Fried, small town, hot cop, single mom, forced proximity & secrets
So sweet! A novel that could actually be real life
This is the first book I've read by Danielle Baker, I was not disappointed. I read all 305 pages in its entirety in one day, not a large feat by any means. I just couldn't put this down, it was a very easy flowing book that made me not want to stop reading it. Jodi and Frees story was so sweet and written in a way that made me feel like it could be real life, no crazy billionaires thats far fetched and unattainable.I am really looking forward to reading the other books in the series.
Tropes: age gap, best friends/boss' daughter, rugged cowboy
Love at first sight whirlwind small town romance!
Kasey and Shauntelle first laid eyes on each other at Shane and Cassie's wedding (book 1), for Shaun she was done for, even though she was with Tommy she fell in love with Kasey, masking it as hate. I loved reading how Kasey peeled back Shaun's Emotional layers like an onion, she fought him every step of the way eventually giving in to her feelings. I'm glad that Shaun didn't end up with the limp noodle. I kind of wish there was more about his racing but only because I like racing it doesn't take away from the book. With this being the 3rd book of the series and more to come I'm in love with this series I can't wait to read more. Sometimes with series I've noticed that either the timeline is off or details that travel from one book to another are off, but not this one Dani really pays attention to the details. I can't wait to read When Hearts Collide.
Tropes: enemies to lovers, forced proximity, Alphahole, nascar driver, small town
I am so thankful for the opportunity to read this as an ARC. Now, I just have to “patiently” wait for the rest of the books, patience isn't my strong suit.
Another fantastic book from Danielle Baker. In this book we get Roxy and Travis' story, they met when Roxy's friend got her to sign up for his kick boxing classes at the Gym. If you've read the previous books in the series you know Roxy's ex is an abusive jerk and Travis would go to the ends of the Earth to protect her.
I really love when series have over lap between books with the same characters at different points in their lives. Danielle really does a great job of keeping the details of recurring characters .
