I think the premise of the story is super interesting and that's why I continued listening to the end. I'm not sure why I expected anything other than some smarter than everyone else around him boy becoming a hero while he is praised by nearly every adult he comes in contact with, even those that he's in opposition with.
A wild space quest with a large cast of unique and complex characters. I really enjoyed this listen but there were definitely sections I had to listen to twice to make sure I was following the story and not getting lost in the crow of characters.
I don't know what it was about this book but i read it one sitting on a lazy tuesday, and then spent the other part of the day flipping back and forth rereading bits and pieces. It grabbed me, and I wasn't expecting it.
I am in absolute love with this book. Since reading Hairstyle of the Damned Joe Meno has become one of my favorite authors. When I say this book last year I didn't have enough to but it but i couldn't pass it up a second time. I read a review, that i feel completely sums this book up fantastically: It will break your heart and then pick up all the pieces and put you back together.
I enjoyed the creepy feel of this story, but I felt the main character was designed to be complex by just checking off a bunch of boxes. Also could just be the narrator but ultimately the mc was boring and annoying.
It was an interesting retelling but not phenomenal. I found Sophie to be a little too girl. Crazy considering the circumstances she was in. This is closer to a four star but not necessarily so I'm going to give it three.
Was not expecting such a beautiful love story. I really enjoyed this listen especially enjoyed the two narrators made it easier to understand what was going on though not gonna lie felt lost the first half hour or so. I loved the story but it also left me wanting more to know more about this world they live in .
