Overall its a OK book. Highly predictable story line, but the world the story lives in is a interesting one. If you are interested in a hybrid sci fi fantasy world and the possibilities of that you will enjoy it.
The story felt very slow and a bit contrived. The allure of it is loosely based on Greese wore off quickly after the first chapter.
Im conflicted about how to rate this book. It has a very strong start however the last third of the book ruins a lot of the suspense and intrigue weaved. That's not to say it doesn't have a few twists here and there but over all the very predictable ending that anyone could see a mile away has knocked the rating down for me.
Overall a great story with some moments that feel problematic but in the end it kind of works out.
Im really not a fan of how at the end Jude and Cardin are romantically involved. Considering the abuses that he put her through in the first half of the story. I like how she acknowledges that he is a way for her to gain power however it still feels a bit icky. I'm interested to see how the series plays out however as Jude seems to be a capable woman who will not put up with abuses of power so easily.
