Interested in the Beatles? Get their history straight from the source – the band members themselves. There are lots of great quotes and insight in the book. My only complaints:
1.) The book was a bit heavy on the early years. Perhaps they were more interested in telling their story back then vs. the later years when they all weren't getting along as well.
2.) The book itself is physically big and heavy. Makes it a bit difficult for casual reading.
3.) I wish they went into more details of their songs or even the recording process. Obviously there are tons of other books out on these subjects, but none were from the band themselves.
All in all, still a great book!
Very good “memory” book focused on a business setting. One complaint was just an introduction of the memory journey / loci method. However, the other techniques in the book were well covered, and I enjoyed having specific exercises and practices tasks to reinforce the ideas.
Definitely some amusing parts, but it felt a little disjointed. Recently found out it was a collection of online journal entries, so that explains some of the redundancy between different chapters / weeks. Still an enjoyable read, since Jeff says many of the things we as parents are all thinking, but social rules don't let us say in public :)
While I already write predominantly in Markdown already, I typically like David's approach to his field guides. As suspected, there was a lot of review material, but I really appreciated the workflow audio interviews. If you don't already work in Markdown, this is the book to get.
After Gang Leader for a Day, I had expected more from the follow-up. Still a good read, however.
One of my favorite books, although very hard to find now! The techniques still hold up over time, even though it was written 18+ years ago. The “Quantum Memory Power” audio book is good as well, and is essentially this book in audio format. Much easier to find than the book version.
A bit light on specific implementation details, but definitely a good introduction. Got me interested in learning more.
Haven't laughed this hard at a book since Youth in Revolt! My only complaint would be that it's a bit short, but definitely worth a read.
Very engaging book – I didn't want to put it down. The writing style didn't quite click with me, since it was difficult to determine who was talking. Also, the lack of punctuation got slightly annoying. Other than that, I loved the story, and made me want to go give my son a huge hug :)
This was on track to be one of my favorite books of the year. Unfortunately, the last quarter of the book went off the rails. I found myself quickly skimming passages to make it to the end. Sad, since the first 3/4 of the book was brilliant!
I enjoyed this book quite a bit more than expected. It's certainly not a typical “Get rich quick” type book, and it's one of the first where the author admits there's no shortcuts to wealth. Very hard work, tough negotiations, and some good business sense such as never giving up any ownership or shares of your company is what it's going to take. If you're looking for a feel-good, fluffy, you-can-do-it book, look elsewhere. Felix tells it like it is, and you might not like to hear it.
This book really caught me off guard. I was expecting to enjoy the story based on the limited description, but after i started reading, it really drew me in and didn't let go. Great engaging story, excellent characters, very funny, and plenty of technical details. Just the right combination for me.
Forgot I had read this one a while back. Great book – very thorough arguments, and it helps that I agreed with the premise in the first place. However, not a book I'm likely to read again...
The first half of this book resonated with me greatly - probably one of the best “get it done” / motivation books. However, the second half fell flat. Ramblings about god, angels, and muses just don't click for me. A couple of great chapters litter the second half though, namely the discussions around “territory”. If you were the last person on Earth, what would you still do?
