painful, beautiful, and hilarious all in one.
I see why this is one of the essential books in Western Armenian Literature.
Excellent translation, sophene books are doing what our ministry of culture has completely failed to do for the last 30 years. These books are so valuable to the preservation of our history.
very well-written, while the book starts out pretty strong the end parts do take a massive leap of logic and assumptions that came out of nowhere.
If you love meta narratives, twin peaks style paranormal events, or a light quick read, this one commits to all three in the best way possible
i dont know what makes this so good, the world is so interested with its own folk tales and culture that resembles medieval english society, colorful main character and such a charming cast of little mice. also a really menacing villain.
pros: feels like a very quick read, its fun, and the book doesn't take itself too seriously
cons: I don't like the way women are portrayed in this book

and with all that said the only reason I read this book, the writing is solid that's it.
3.5 solid. sci-fi is not really my genre. but the hype around this book was just too much to ignore. the tone of voice of the main character is great, the story is interesting, but not for me.
such a fun time with this one, I don't usually enjoy prequels but I couldn't help myself but constantly smile throughout reading this book, it's filled with references to Redwall, much more in-depth worldbuilding, and a cast of wildly colorful characters. this was an absolute joy to read and I cannot wait to get into the third book
More like a 3.6
compared to the first two books this was a weaker entry, nevertheless still good.
the book has 3 stories based around the hedge knight and his squire egg, the first is the best, then the third, and sadly the second was incredibly dull. that said, this is an excellent breather if you want to read something in between each Song of Ice and Fire books.
what if a d&d player bragged about their character's backstory for 600 pages? jokes aside, loved it. one of the best first act's ive ever read, it does get boring halfway through during the magic school in my opinion, but besides that. this was great!
4.5 to be honest, I still hate the interludes so much, it completely takes you out of the story. this book is already large it did not need 200 pages of side quests.
I don't know how this man makes me almost shed a tear by the end of each book, but this series is criminally underrated
