So imagine that you and your twin sister are struggling to find ways to pay the rent for your crappy apartment. Then a man shows up and tells you that you are Fae. Your parents who died left you lots of money, but you must enroll in Zodiac Academy and graduate to get all of the inheritance.  You will have a stipend the whole time you are enrolled so it beats struggling.  Then after you get there you find out your parents were the last King and Queen of Solaria and you must graduate from Zodiac Academy in to take over the throne.  However, the Four Heirs, who were suppose to take over, isn't going to make it easy for you. 
The bully thing doesn't turn me off, it just makes me root for the good guys a little more.  The twisted sisters created a perfect recipe with this one.  A little dark academia, a little bullying, a little competition, and some cute fae, and poof now I'm screwed because I can't wait to read the whole series.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I didn't enjoy Feyre and Tamlin's relationship. It felt forced or fake or like it was stockholm syndrome. He took her from her family and because they were forced together she fell in love with him. I felt like Lucien and Tamlin were just not good people. I found it odd that she killed his friend and he takes her in and takes care of her and her family. Although, later we find out that he needed her to fall in love with him to break the curse. I liked Feyre's character. She was loyal to her family, strong willed, and ingenious. I loved Amarantha as the villian. I really disliked her which shows how well written she was. She would just do things that were unnecessary just to torture Feyre. I did immediately solve the riddle and wondered why it took until the end of the book to solve. I am interested to see what happens in the next book with the bond between Rhys and Feyre. He seems the most interesting character. I am hoping in the next book the relationship between Tamlin and Feyre becomes more natural or stronger where I can feel a better connection. The way Sarah J. Maas weaves the world building information into the story made it such a great book. The characters seem intentially created in particular ways to make you think one thing but create a left hand turn. It will be interesting to see how all of this plays out in book 2.

I really enjoy the writing style of Sarah J. Maas. I will definitely be reading her other books. I loved this book. It felt easier and flowed better then the first partly because the relationship with Rhys was more natural than Tamlin. Tamlin locking her up had me so heated. I was shouting I knew it when Tamlin and Lucien were working with Hybern. I would like to move to Velaris. It sounded like the epitome of peace. I found a new villian to hate the human queens collectively. I like that Feyre has come into her powers and is stronger then many know. I loved that her kindness to the wraith was paid back by saving her life. I hated how this book sent her babk to Tamlin. I am eagerly anticipating reading the next book to see if Cassian and Nessa have a thing, what becomes of Lucien and Elain since they are mates, what comes of the war with Hybern, and I pray Feyre gets her revenge on Tamlin. Side note: I am so sad for Feyre, Nessa, and Elain's father. He now has 3 fairy daughters and he doesn't even know yet.

I loved that there were different breeds and half breeds of vampires. I enjoyed Lissa and Rose's relationship. I loved that they both would have sacrificed for each other. I enjoyed Christian and Dimitri's characters. I thought they were well developed. I was hoping for more details or information surrounding the school. We were given very limited or basic information. I thought there was an excessive amount of drama. The twists at the end took me completely by surprise.
