See allWhere do I start? This book is terribly unrealistic. Yes, I know that it is a Dystopian novel, but C'MON. Who leaves a 17-year-old girl in charge of an ENTIRE SOCIETY? And who has 3 guys vying for their attention at all times? Gaia went from a wonderfully brave heroine in Birthmarked to a sappy, whiny, stupid, immature little girl in Promised. I was sad that this trilogy took a turn for the worse and I highly doubt I'll be reading anymore of Mrs. O'Brien's series ever again.
I absolutely loved this novel. It's takes you all throughout the political process (including the scandal, sex, drama, alliances, and lies) and how it affects presidential candidates and the people around them. This book kept me on my toes like no other and I surprisingly found myself falling in love (and hate) with many of the characters. Patterson's detailed and elegant writing is just the icing on the cake. If you love politics, and even if you don't, this book will change your perspective on life, love, and our insanely complex political system.
I loved this book. Given, it did start off slow, but this book ended up being a page-turner! I am definitely looking forward to reading the next one.
I was only in 5th grade when i read this, but I remember it giving me a new outlook on life. Breathtaking, amazing, and detailed!
