This is a short, but powerful connecting story. O'Brien writes in such a way that you personally feel all the emotions that the characters feel. Nonetheless, I really like Leon and I hope he finds Gaia in Prized!
Where do I start? This book is terribly unrealistic. Yes, I know that it is a Dystopian novel, but C'MON. Who leaves a 17-year-old girl in charge of an ENTIRE SOCIETY? And who has 3 guys vying for their attention at all times? Gaia went from a wonderfully brave heroine in Birthmarked to a sappy, whiny, stupid, immature little girl in Promised. I was sad that this trilogy took a turn for the worse and I highly doubt I'll be reading anymore of Mrs. O'Brien's series ever again.
Thought-provoking and eerie! It reminded me a bit of the ending of SOMA (the video game). Short story horror at its best.
