I listened to the audiobook narrated by Kate Mulgrew and loved it. NOS4A2 reminded me of early Stephen King (which makes complete sense seeing as King is Joe Hill's father). Great narration and character development. Overall, I enjoyed this book.
3.5 stars: the writing dragged at times and the characters were well written but I felt no connection for any of them.
3.5, cute book, drags in places. The characters are likeable. I'll listen to the next book.
It's always fun to read Rick Riordan. An entertaining journey and new mythological creatures to research. Apollo's quest has been nail biting and heartbreaking at times, but humorous as well. The growth of Apollo throughout the books has been phenomena. I can't wait for the fifth one but at the same time am sad for the adventure to end.
The main character was not my favorite, she annoyed me at the beginning of the book with her “oh poor me” attitude. I was pleased with the character development in the story. I enjoyed the plot and thought I knew where it was going but was pleased with the twists thrown in. I am intrigued to know what happens and will read the second book when it comes out
I love Jodi Picoult and have probably read close to everything that she has written. That being said, this was not one of my favorite books of hers. I was not crazy about starting at the end of the story and working to the beginning and how the whole situation at the clinic started. I also didn't make a connection to any of the characters, they all fell flat to me. Finally, the epilogue left me highly dissatisfied; I found myself wanting to know more about what happened to the characters after the event.
Powerful, relevant but left me wanting just a little bit more. I felt like there were storylines that were introduced but not returned to (like Jake and his “orders”- what where they? Who where they from?). Overall, I enjoyed the story. Would definitely have in my classroom if I was teaching high school.
I read this in one day. The story kept me enthralled and I needed to know what happened to Sarah and her brother.
This tried too hard to replicate the thrills of the first book. The first half of the book dragged and the second half of the book was just okay. The ending felt rushed.
Due date arrived while reading. Waiting for it (again). Can't wait to continue reading it.
3.5 stars. It was an interesting book but I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. This book just dragged on for me. I did like the main character and parts of the story were intriguing enough to keep me reading. I'd say the last third was the best part.
3.5 stars. Hava, the main character, was unlikeable. The writing dragged on in spots and I found myself becoming bored.
