dnf 51% of the way in. I enjoyed the setting, but was not drawn into the story - I was not intrigued by any of the backstory.
I enjoyed the actual process of reading this book, though the overall plot was a bit convoluted. It was not very clear what was happening with the POVs until far too long through the book, and then the climax/wrap-up seemed rushed.
This book takes place in primarily one setting, which I found a touch dull (though I recognize it added to the creepiness factor). In addition, I didn't fall for the chemistry between characters. I considered ranking it a 2 star, however the two POVs kept me intrigued and I devoured the story quite quickly.
Not my cup of tea. While the book was fast-paced, every plot device felt like a downer, and the themes didn't resonate with me.
I went into this expecting some suspense which was sorely lacking until the last 10%. Did enjoy the main character!
This book rules - loved the commentary on books and the inclusion of the different excerpts. Too fun!
Love what the author said in her acknowledgments about wanting to have fun writing a book that readers could then have fun reading - this was exactly that!
Enjoyed the premise a lot though was not super enthralled with the characters or the action moments. I did like the few multimedia pieces and clever details.
I read this physically and with audiobook; Audiobook narration may have negatively impacted my enjoyment.
the ending brought it from a 3 to a 4, very inventive read albeit sometimes a choppy plot
I fell into the story quickly thanks to Rooney's unique style of writing prose, however that wasn't enough to keep me connected with the characters. I found I was intrigued with their fates, but not invested.
Took half the book for me to get hooked - I kept going thanks to the twists at the end of each chapter and the short lengths of chapters. I enjoyed the latter half of the book - the speed picked up and I got more invested.
so fun! loved the main character - such a enjoyable job to read about. wasn't a huge fan of wrapping everything up in the epilogue
Great read, saved many tabs - only reason to dock a star is that I was less engaged by the final part.
4.5 ⭐️ fun page-turner! note: required some flipping back and forth at the beginning when being introduced to characters, but worth it :)
loved Percy and Sam - also enjoyed the flashbacks much more than I normally do. fun read!
3.5 ⭐️ Enjoyed the characters and their personal growth - would have enjoyed a bit more to the plot.
