See allStarts pretty slow and the author is a bit chewy with the back story. A good edit could have cut out a lot of unnecessary stuff. Once it got moving it really took off, but that was about halfway through and the central mystery wraps up sooner than expected. The last quarter of the book could be considered hit or miss depending on how much you care about Mikael.
It was worth every minute of lost sleep last night. I couldn't put it down. Will make a great RomCom movie in the right hands.
I want to live in the OASIS.
Any time I want a light easy read or need a pick-me-up I turn to Ready Player One. The words are always the same, but the adventures of Parzival, Art3mis, and Aech never disappoint me. I love all of it. The impossible odds, the love story, the puzzles. Every single bit is a piece of magic. The references to old video games, movies, television and everything else are like pieces of my past dripping off the page.
I cant' stress this enough. If you're wondering “should I read this book?” the answer is an emphatic YES! Everyone I've suggested it to has loved it.
The only complaint I have is that I know the answers to the puzzle as soon as I read the clue, but that's what happens when you read a book over and over.

When this one came up on my WoT re-read, I was not super stoked. I've read it at least half a dozen times in the 12 years since it came out, but this was the first time I didn't hate it. I call that progress
