Did One Punch Man make the manga cliche of people turning into demons based on their flaws? I like the trope obviously but I'm curious.
Also, love the Ikiru reference.

One of my new favorite books if you can even consider it one. Regardless, a spiritual odyssey that, at times, even moved me to tears. A wonderful reading experience that made me glad to be a fan of Jodorowsky. He might be my favorite artist across all mediums. I'd have to think on it though. 10/10
Watched the movie then read the book. Then I realized how “yikes” it was. It really did take everything special away from the book.
Low 10/10
Best memoir I've read bar none. It's about the pursuit for intelligence and survival and it's amazing. High 9/10
Where the book feels self indulgent, the film offers various ways for modern science and audience to adapt to this story. The book prides itself and struts its knowledge as if it has the answers. I believe that it's impossible for this story and that interpretation should be its best friend when it doesn't seem to be. I prefer the film, but I can't deny that the story at hand is the same and it is one of the best to be told. I don't know if I prefer the ape sequence in this or if I just admire the additional depth, but it's extremely effective. High 8/10
My brother let me borrow it. Finally got around to it and it was pretty good? I couldn't get invested with the characters at all except for the baseball villain of the week. I liked him a whole lot. The art is insane as always and it made me keep turning the pages to look forward to what would happen next.
High 7/10
Silly one-shot. Things happen way too fast and it isn't worth the time. Great shots and art tho.
It starts slow in the first 100 pages, but once they hunt and the connection to Francine becomes more interesting, it becomes more readable. The murder of the buffalo is one of the grossest and most well-executed sequences ever. I never really get grossest out, but I found myself looking away from the book at times. The second act is astounding, but the third act is real bad in my opinion. The 6 months or so when they were snowed in was way too rushed. It was a huge part of the narrative, yet it takes 3 pages. The ending was poorly written even though I liked how it worked thematically. I like the idea of the train making the town tired, but the writing was poor.

It was kind of jarring in a way that didn't feel like the whole story was naturally progressing. The tone has got to be my biggest issue. One scene they're having long winded conversations with and then he's getting killed two pages later. It left me confused and weirdly unsatisfied. I guess it's really hard to end a story with the nature of the titular Court of Owls, but a story about justice shouldn't be left open-ended.
Currently my favorite book of all time. I don't read much at all but hopefully I can get myself back into it with the slight assistance of this app. I love phycological horror films like The Lighthouse and Eraserhead. I'd say this is an amazing intro to Lovecraftian horror for most. Unexplainable terror not meant to fully described but merely interpreted in your own way. It's so hard to tell in this and other phycological horrors when the narrator or main character is making something up in their mind or perceiving something truly insane. Lovecraftian horror fascinates me so much.

Very interesting themes that made me change the way I see things that aren't all related to Appalachia. Other than that, poorly made and not my thing. I'd rather read fiction or something without a dumb and politically biased person writing it. I could get very heated like I did with my progress update I did on this a bit ago and I still agree with what I said. But I'm tired, overworked, not functioning, and calling my trans boyfriend who J.D Vance thinks shouldn't have rights. Imma go to bed now. Thank you.
Pretty good. The wonky translation errors make it funny. Like how women can't go to church, you shouldn't poop, and the fact that God should be feared. My favorite is Revelations. That's a banger.

Really fantastic use of fable and allegory. Recommend to anyone really. Only thing keeping it from a 10/10 is the silly/corny ending.
High 9/10
Uh oh. I'm a fan.
The action is so clean and beautiful, the characters are crazy vivid, the pacing is perfect, I'm stunned. I'm the biggest hater for this show but like it might actually be peak...
A great start. It has a clearly objective view of the events unfolding and the subjectivity reveals itself quickly. Very potent. Reminds me of Se7en.
