What's your favorite scifi or fantasy with a strong sense of place?Answer
I'm interested in new genre books where the setting is almost like a character. I'm especially interested in books that also have a strong plot. For me, the prime example is "Finch" by Jeff vandermeer. Maybe "City of Miracles" by Robert Jackson Bennett. What are books like this for you?

Why this book?
Necromancer, Nuns in space. So it fits both sci-fi and fantasy elements. The lore in this book is deep and it really takes you on a ride. You don’t find out everything there is to know by the end of this first novel but you know enough to make sense of everything.

Why this book?
Someone else added it and I haven’t read it yet but it’s on my tbr. The plot summary makes me think it will be similar to Dune in ways.

Why this book?
This book is full of whimsy and romance. And the “Night Circus” itself is an entity all on its own.
