Amazing. Outstanding story line. This book made me look inward. It caused me to reflect on some of the prejudices that I have. On a negative note, it made me hyper aware of the daily challenges, I face as a black woman. The book did its job! Would recommend to everyone
4.5 stars rounding up to 5 stars. Really enjoyed this mystery, I would definitely continue with the series. Veronica is my type of gal!
Very heartwarming fantasy - cutesy, whimsical with a bit of darkness.
3.5 rounded up to 4
Goodreads really need to add the 1/2 star functionality - geesh.
I was not particular about continuing the series. After hearing the epilogue, I have been sucked in.
This story is about Adam. A sixteen year who is suffering from schizophrenia. Adam is placed in a clinical trial on an experimental drug for his illness. The medicine is what he calls a miracle drug because he finally feels like he is in control of himself. During the time he is on this drug, he starts to interact with his environment more. He attends a new school, finds a girlfriend, makes a friend, and has sex for the first time. Then tragedy strikes, he is becoming immune to the drug and he is thus removed from the clinical trial. He is then taken off the drug incrementally. Then everything turns bleak.
However, there is always beauty for our ashes.

This is my first time reading, Margaret Atwood. Very enjoyable experience. This story was engaging, immersive and highly nuanced. I will make it a point to read more, Atwood.
Much better the second time around! The audiobook bring this story to life. Enjoyed!
I loved it.
I have never had a book to have me thinking about it when I wasn't reading it, with the exception of self help books.
I was totally engaged. I felt anger towards the enemies of Lila and Kell. I wanted them to feel all the pain. Lol.
On to book 2 in the series.
I did not enjoy this book, at all. Confused, as to why, this is considered horror. Very disjointed and uninteresting. I had to force myself to finish.

What was the point of Black Mike with the gold earring. Jackson's use of negative stereotypes was unnecessary, disgusting, small-minded and platitudinous.

Update: After sitting with my thoughts on this book, I am bumping my rating to a full 4 stars. I am excited to read the next book.
Book was slow to start. It didn't becoming overly engaging until the last 150 pages. However, I enjoyed the storyline. On to the last book of the trilogy.

After reading some brilliant short stories, as of late. This collection of short stories missed the mark. From this collection, I liked maybe - two to three stories, at the most.
How do I say this? This was an interesting read. Chuck has a very vivid imagination, I will tell you that. Wow. He put a new spin on Erotica. Can we call this Erotic Dystopia? This was a change of style for me and I enjoyed it. It really sparked my interest andimagination. Lol.
This storyline, so much better than “The Husband's Secret”. This storyline was so interesting and captivated my attention. I definitely did not expect the ending!
