One of the best books I've read this year! The love and hate relationship I developed with both Meg and Kat was so vibrant - there were a few times I just wanted to physically shake some sense into them! I had a lot of fun following and almost playing along.
Amazing murder mystery that really had me on my toes until the end. I honestly didn't see the twist coming until I ran straight into it. The person I suspected wasn't even involved! Another book I just didn't want to put down. I was reading every chance I could. Would definitely recommend if you like murder mystery and investigations.
Trigger warning for sexual assault and grooming.
Talk about generational healing! This is such a powerful story of how one woman finds her truth while exploring the past behind her family. Told from the perspectives of 3 women born in 3 different eras from the same family of witches. It's such a fun take on historical fiction and the sprinkle of magic doesn't hurt. Even after closing the book, I wish I was part of a family of witches. I feel like I can hear and understand nature a little more too. Would definitely recommend - and would absolutely read again.
Trigger warning- there is mention of murder, abortion, rape, and domestic violence (in case that's not your thing)
One of my first introductions to domestic thrillers, I've found a genre I absolutely love. I had heard so many people talking about it on #booktok that I had to see what all the fuss was about. I'm so glad I did - this was an AMAZING book. I truly had no idea how the main character would overcome all the struggles in her path. I'm very excited for #2.
I picked this book up not really knowing what to think. I only knew that it was magical and suspenseful and set in the US Plains of the early 1910s. This book truly kept me engaged and wanting more. Every page turn came with new shocking details, but the mystery isn't fully spelled out until the very end. I loved the whole thing. The main theme here is women's empowerment and it does include LGBTQ+ narratives.
I genuinely loved this book and couldn't put it down. The twist was revealed in the last few chapters and I truly didn't see it coming. It did leave me feeling really bad for the main character Amaya and we never really find out how her story ends. I would definitely recommend to those who enjoy domestic thrillers.
TW: this book does contain scenes of assault, graphic deaths, and implied child pornography/abuse
It was great and the character development was amazing. I was so invested with each story, but I was soooo disappointed with the ending. I just wanted to know more about how these 3 completely different siblings were able to come together and become a cohesive family. The ending fell short for me.
It was good. Well written, modern versions of old love stories. Not my favorite genre but I enjoyed reading it.
Great book that covers a wide range of topics in such an expertly crafted way: race, prison, lgbtqia+, love, family, and even political nuances. I was deeply invested in both Ike's and Buddy Lee's stories and their ability to learn from each other. I was so hooked that I was up until 3am to finish the last 10 chapters. S. A. Cosby has a new fan in me - I can't wait to read his other novels.
I definitely enjoyed it and finished it within a week. My only issue was the ending seemed super rushed and not even very well thought out. I expected more and was pretty disappointed.
Not my cup of tea. It was a very quick read but everything about the story itself gave me the creeps. The characters were barely developed and the story was moving along way too fast. There was also a lot of manipulation both of the characters and of the reader.
I'm a sucker for a sob story fantasy romance ending and that's why I didn't give it 1 star lol
