This was a very cool story. I'm interested in reading Crowder's other books!

Ok, I love funny books, and I've read plenty. But not all of them make me laugh out loud. This one did several times. I'm such a self-help/self-improvement nerd, and that's probably why this book made me laugh so much. I can't wait to read bits of this aloud to my family. This type of humor is right up our alley. 😄
Wow. This was a potent little read that I wasn't expecting. I may actually give this a 5th star later!
This was surprisingly good and helpful and full of legit information about metabolism, hormones, and holistic health. I think he's on to something here! Now to experiment with his method and find out. : )
(Review of 6th edition) A wonderful book, I don't think I ever realized just how important reading aloud to your kids really was! This book has got me really excited to help my kids fall in love with reading...I think this book should be required reading for parents and teachers everywhere! I think I found the next book I'm going to buy my friends who find themselves new parents. Thanks to the last half of this book being a listing of great books to read to kids, I ‘ve got a list of about 20 books I'm going out to find!
Completely biased review. I'm married to the author. LOL (Well, one of them. The other is a cool person we're fortunate enough to call a friend. :)
This book is adorable, funny, and has lots of re-readable value. If you love bacon, you will love this book!
The illustrator is an amazing and talented guy. If you don't believe me, just go look at the photos in this book. AMAZING!
Disclaimer - I know the author IRL! So, yes, I'll be positively biased, but I can also guarantee all his stories are true, and he's the real deal. ;-)
Let me tell you, I had no idea I needed this book until I read it. Here's why.
Gratitude has been an important mental health tool for me these past two dumpster fire years. Gratitude is pretty powerful stuff. Maybe it's even one of the secrets of the universe!
However, Taylor might have discovered an equally potent transformational tool – wonder.
We live in an age where you can find every answer to about any question within seconds, thanks to the internet and smartphones. How can wonder even be a thing anymore?
Well, Taylor's book shows us that wonder isn't lost! But we do need to be reminded to find it once again. Every story he shares shows another way he has found wonder in his life, both past and present.
This is exciting! It means there is a treasure trove of wonder in our own lives, just waiting to be discovered. I'm so thankful for a new way of looking at my life! This makes me want to keep going, possibly with a smile on my face and in my heart.
I'm inspired. I'm going to keep my very own “Road to Wonder” journal. I'll chase wonder in my present and my past, and I'll let that wonder nourish me. I'm also going to use the journal to consult with 8-year-old me from time to time. (Read his book and you'll know what I'm talking about!)
Go read this book. Let it inspire you, too!
Really more of a 2.5 star read, right in the middle, but Goodreads still won't allow 1/2 stars!
Wow I had no idea of the existence of this place, or of Norman Baker! I'm intrigued, I now want to see Eureka Springs and this Crescent Hotel for myself! Great artwork, really lends to the story telling in a unique way.
The artwork = AMAZING. Love.
The story/prose = Weird. I'd never read this aloud to kids. Maybe grownups could appreciate it?
Let's call this a kid's book but for grownups.
I absolutely loved this story about an 11 year old girl and her 88 year old best friend and neighbor, both named Sophie. Older Sophie is starting to show signs of dementia, and the story follows younger Sophie trying to deal with what this decline means to their friendship.
I really love that our quirkly little protagonist is a clever, well-developed character that I cared about right away. Lowry did a wonderful job of giving this story characters with their own personality and depth, and making them all so likable. It was an absolute joy to read. But don't let the words “quirky” and “joy” fool you. There were also tender and touching moments that authentically broke my heart.
I'll have no problem recommending this book to our customers, young and old. If you have a child who is also dealing with the very difficult life change of watching an elder loved one in cognitive decline, this book could offer some comfort, empathy, and understanding, along with giving an opening for discussing these topics.
Thank you NetGalley for sharing the ARC with me!
I just love the other Gordon Korman books I've read, so I couldn't wait to dive into this one when I was granted access to the advance reader's copy (thanks NetGalley!). However, when I started reading and realized the main character “Yash” was a football star athlete, I sighed, as I'm not big on sports stories.
But let me tell you, as I kept reading, and meeting the amazing cast of characters that fill Yash's world, I couldn't help but be absorbed in the story! I loved the multiple points of view, each character was interesting and worth spending time with.
The last few events of the book had me flipping pages as fast as I could, I just HAD to know how the end game was going to turn out, and what exactly was the deal with the kids' PE teacher, Mrs. Finnerty! Such a great use of small details actually making the plot twist in the story.
This book was so great, I just wanted to hug my Kindle after reading it. I can't wait to hand-sell it to my customers here at the bookshop!
“Maybe I am defective, maybe everything I have experienced is the result of a glitch. But if so, what a beautiful glitch!”
❤️❤️❤️ I mean. Come on! Middle grade literature is where it's at, folks. And I'll say for the hundredth time, if you aren't reading it, you are missing out!!!
I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed this book! There were some really beautiful thoughts and passages within.
