I just love me a good vampire/steampunk/alt-history read! I love the take on vamps here. As long as they've been around, they are behind in terms of social and artistic evolution.
Looking forward to the next two books in the series!
How did I not know about this book until now? Beautiful, heartbreaking and terrifying! Highly recommend listening to the audio version.
What a delightful read. I just love Cardan! Now I want to read the entire series all over again.
A terrific second installment of the series. I was so looking forward to the sequel to Soulkeeper and was not disappointed. The world building and action just drew me in. The characters are solid.
Can't wait for the third!
I love me a good heist with an ensemble of quirky characters and Master of One didn't disappoint. The story meandered a bit at the beginning and really didn't grab me until chapter 13, but the characters and unique magic system kept me hooked. This was a fun read and exactly what I needed right now!
A rich, carefully developed, slow burn of a build up to what I'm hoping is a sequel filled with answers. Get ready to be filled with a whole lotta questions at the end, but in a good way. This is a complex world and deserves the deep dive. It feels like the plot and subplot might meander a bit, but it comes together well in the end.
Build Your Best Writing Life: Essential Strategies for Personal Writing Success is an altogether different and refreshing kind of writer's craft book. It focuses on helping the writer create their own process through personal exploration to develop the ideal writing life that works on an individual basis. In addition to the introspective prompts and exercises, Kristen offers practical advice about the business of writing, from choosing a publishing path to building an author platform and marketing. Writers of all sorts will benefit from the guidance provided and gleaned from Kristen's own experience. I know I certainly will put this guidebook to good use.
I really wanted to fall in love with this book since I've heard so many good things about the series. Unfortunately or fortunately, I couldn't really get into it until the last quarter or so when the action started to pick up. Now, I'm looking forward to reading the other books.
fresh magic system
fun plot
great characters
wanted more rationale for characters decisions at the climax
Can I give this book more than 5 stars?
It's rare thing for a book to work magic on a reader.
Much like The Night Circus, Erin Morgenstern's second book is utterly enchanting. I was drawn in, felt, saw, smelled, tasted and breathed every bit of this world. If ever there was a character whom I so totally connected with and related to, its Zachary Ezra Rawlins.
I don't know what kind of magic Erin possesses, but thank goodness she chooses to share it with the world. This is a beautiful work that I will come back to again and again.
I'm going to be looking for painted doors from now on. And when I find one, I'm SO going to turn that doorknob.
I loved this book so much! The world, the characters all and all the sensory experiences that weave through this story. I closed this book with a smile.
I'm a huge fan of Leigh Bardugo's YA and her adult debut did not disappoint! Loved the characters and the mystery. And, I have to say, I'm SO glad they are going to get their boy!
Can't wait for the next book!
lovely ending for the crew.
Action packed, heartbreaking yet ending on a hopeful note. True cert...I'm gonna miss these crazy kids. Well done Mr. Kristoff!

A perfect ending to the series and a very satisfying ending for the Wing boys and June.
