See allI don't know how to feel about Chaol and Celaena. I just don't understand the relationship - I get her and Dorian, not Chaol. Aside from the ridiculously unnecessary triangle, I mostly enjoyed the story, and I'm glad Celaena got to experience a real friendship through Nehemia. I was a little disappointed though bc I was expecting a little bit more idek, not exactly action but, something!

I miss sam! I'll give this a 4 bc it left me intrigued and bc shes like 18 and I keep forgetting how young she was when she was adopted by Arobynn and sent to Endovier
I FORGOT HOW GOOD THIS BOOK WAS!!! Depth is added to a few characters, pasts are being introduced, and there's nothing like good ol' jealousy to add to the chaos
It's interesting to read books that were labeled “horror” for the time it was written in, but now is really not actually scary.
Now I don't particularly care for the MC cuz he's got quite an unpleasant personality, so i was pretty amused by his thoughtlessness (and rashness) considering he's supposed to be some fancy scientist
the fact that cheese of all things was his downfall!
I will say I enjoyed this a lot more than I was expecting to... It took me a bit to really get into it, but once I got about 60% in i was hooked... honestly not sure how i feel about Madoc - like i think he actually does love his kids and he seems to relate best with jude but well idk
BEWARE! Spoilers ahead
Fav characters (or somewhat liked):
OAK - he deserves to have a great childhood!!! don't know if he'll necessarily be the best king... but he is just precious!!
Bomb/Roach/Ghost - how can anyone not like them. I mean they're just trying to live their best life with as many explosions as possible
Vivi - she ACTUALLY cares about her family cough taryn cough (even if she does get a bit sidetracked...) the scenes with her and Oak were so cuteee
Professor Noggle -he was funny
Oriana - while not the nicest to Jude, idk I couldn't help but like her. She had so much love for Oak and I'm kinda curious what she thought about some of what happened in the book
Cardan & Jude:
he kinda gives misguided Gilbert Blythe vibes... if Gilbert was spoiled and cruel. I'm not excusing ANY of his behavior, however that is the vibe I kinda got by the end of the book. These poor children just need some proper love. and poor Jude needs to feel safe somewhere so she can have some fun... and maybe good therapy sessions...
Despised characters:
Taryn&Locke:
-ugh- the traitorous piece of slime DESERVES Locke. They can off and be horrible together!
but the fact that Locke was all ‘I still like you Jude' ugh HE is the one who chose the slimy traitor so he can NOT try to have both.
Now I want to re-watch The Breakfast Club....
Anyways, this was really fun to read cause I only figured out the killer a few pages before it was revealed. I was definitely not expecting this level of complexity in the setup
And may I just say the CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT ❤️
