Definitely a product of its time. I'm not sure how I feel about the anti-Japanese themes. The mystery was just okay, very 90s feeling. By far my least favorite of his books.
This is a short story originally published in ebook format, but I listened to the audio book which is currently included with Spotify Premium. Its a good (not great) story of a very minor character in Episode VII.
This trade ties in with the Jedi Fallen Order video game. It was a fun read and may be interesting to those who enjoyed the storyline and characters of the video game.
A fairly good biography on a problematic president. If you are looking for a biography that holds Jackson accountable for his actions in Florida, his stance and participation in slavery, and his treatment of Native Americans, this is not the one to read. Otherwise, it is well written and engaging.
A fun, short Star Wars adventure that features General Leia recording her memoirs. She records a mission when her and a group of rebels were tasked with creating a distraction while the main rebellion focused on preparing to attack the second death star at Endor.
I've been reading Penman's books for over 20 years now and have always really liked them. However, I didn't really enjoy the style of info dumping in this book and that affected my overall enjoyment of the book.
The book focuses on King Richard's return from the crusades, his capture/imprisonment and his final war with the King of France. I felt like too much activity was kept off camera, which led to characters telling each other of past events to catch the reader up. If you like Penman's work, I'd recommend this, but definitely not as a jumping off point for new readers.
Not the best, but certainly not the worst of the new canon. Second and third novellas are better than the first and fourth.
Really enjoyable! Sanderson really fleshes out his world-building in this one. The momentum of the story is kept throughout and doesn't drag. Excited for whenever the fourth is released.
The final volume of Revival and we get the answers we've been waiting for! I absolutely love this series and found the ending to be very satisfying and not rushed/cheesy. I'd recommend this for any avid comic reader and fans of stories like Twin Peaks.
This volume takes the pace of the series up a few notches as the end gets closer. Very enjoyable!
For whatever reason, I just did not enjoy this book as much as the first two. It took me weeks to finish because I did not find it very engaging.
A bit dry, took me longer than I was expecting. However, some fascinating history of Europe is covered in a unique manner. Would recommend for history buffs looking for something new.
This volume was the best yet. Its nice to have some answers about the revivers. Really excited to read the final volume!
A fun, short (but not the best) Star Wars adventure covering a mission of Luke's after the destruction of the Death Star. If you've read the others in this "series" of grade school/junior high level books, I'd recommend, otherwise it's pretty skippable.
A short, fun, and fast-paced adventure! Han and Chewie are sent on a rescue mission in the Outer Rim and run into agents of the Empire. It's written for a junior high audience, but I think most Star Wars fans would enjoy this.
Things are getting really crazy at this point in the series. A really enjoyable and unique story!
Absolutely amazing! I can't believe I've never heard of this series or author before. So glad I randomly put it on my to read list and so glad I randomly picked it to actually read. It's fun adventure-fantasy with some magical elements and mystery included. I'd highly recommend to any fan of Robin Hobb, Robert Jackson Bennett, or Brandon Sanderson.
Do yourself a favor and read this book! Dealing with the grief from the death of a grandmother and a sister, the main character is called back home to face the source of some very strange dreams. This book is haunting and I never wanted it to end! I look forward to reading whatever Jessica comes out with next.
Robert Ludlum never fails to disappoint. I didn't realize that this is a sequel to the Matarese Circle, but that didn't seem to matter too much - it was easy to keep up with past events. However, the format of the book seems to follow the Bourne series closely, sometimes it seems that only the character names are changed.
The plot involves current and former CIA agents trying to stop a secret organization (the Matarese) from dominating the world's economy for their own personal financial gain. I thought the plot was interesting, but trying to follow the plans of the Matarese was sometimes difficult.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who regularly reads the genre.
