You know what? I really enjoyed this book. I wanna say I can't fault it but what I mean is any faults do not subtract anything from the amazing qualities this possesses.
Positives
1) This did not shy away from Sci-Fi. A lot of sci-fi is light on the science or gaming or actually realistic stuff but this was good. You had the destruction of the world as a by-product of human development but the fact that it was neglected as everyone choose to escape rather face it head on. You has obesity and drugs and all that good stuff. Whilst this doesn't sound like Sci-Fi, it adds to the believability of the Sci-Fi, making it seem more developed.
2) Wade isn't perfect. Neither is Artemis or H. I enjoyed the fact that these were regular fanatics who weren't isolated from real life ish.
3) It was a flushed out world. I spoke about this before but this world was good enough that I have a picture of it in my head.
4) The action was epic. There is no other way to describe it but epic with music playing, cheering going on and extremely high stakes. Loved it!
5) The audiobook was amazing. Couldn't have asked for more

Now Negatives
1) Whilst I appreciated the fact that the world is different and Wade isn't close with his aunt, I didn't like the way it didn't seem to affect him properly. He wasn't happy but he didn't even seem to grieve or even want to prevent it. Seems a little odd to me...
2) I lost interest a little in the middle. Lost interest is harsh but what I mean is I lost the intensity to pick it back up again. It only lasted for a few chapters but just thought I should mention it.

Overall, Good! Definitely rereading in the future. P.S. read on audiobook by Will Wheaton!!

I LOVED IT. It is a great story that I just can't get enough off! I started reading this book with reservations because of all the hype surrounding it but I loved it which is funny because I was told it doesn't get that great until book 2/3 so I cannot wait for more.

The best thing about this novel is the characters. Sarah J. Mass did a wonderful job creating characters you can't help but adore and want to see their journey. SPOILER. I am not a person who really enjoys a love triangle but Mass executives it wonderfully that even I am in turmoil about which guy to choose and love the feeling of it.

In addition, her writing is beautiful and she is clearly very talented. She has the gift that when she writes about fear, you feel the fear with every bone in your body. (I can't help but tense up when the king is mentioned)
Also the plot line is amazing which is always a plus. ☺️

The only reason why it is 4 stars is because I know their is more to come and we need room for growth!
