THIS BOOK KILLED ME!!!!

I read Samantha Downing's first book “My Lovely Wife” last year and LOVED it, so when I saw that she had a new book coming out I knew I had to read it.

This book follows three siblings: Beth, Portia and Eddie Morgan, on a road trip to get their grandfathers inheritance after he has passed away. The thing is they took this same road trip when they were kids and shit went done on that trip.

I have never read a book revolving around a road trip so I didn't know what to expect. I still don't know how I feel about road trip books. This is definitely a slow burn mystery/thriller. Once I got into this book I could not stop reading.

I really liked following Beth's POV. For me I liked feeling like I couldn't trust her. Reading from Beth's POV made me so invested. I also liked how she describes herself as not being a heroine, it made the book even more intense. Personally, that makes the book better for me, knowing that we can't trust our main character.

Everyone needs to read this book. I learned quite a lot of new information and terms that will be very helpful. I could relate A LOT to Aubrey and what she has gone through as a fat person. I knew very little about the history of BMI and how doctors use it today and let me just say fuck BMI! Going to the doctor has always been a fear of mine even as a young kid. I remember being A CHILD and the doctor telling me I should keep a notebook and write down all the foods I ate in a day, thankfully I never listened to her because I thought that was way too much work to do. Hearing Aubrey and other fat people's stories about going to the doctors and telling them that something is wrong and being told that the problem is your weight HIT ME HARD! I still have a lot of work to do mentally but this book was a great start.

I was really excited to read this. But unfortunately, I could not make it through this.

This book follows Jake who opens a strange box containing a severed finger, he accidentally summons a grim reaper to drag him to the Eternal Void. We follow Jake and his gang trying to find the Embassy of the Dead and seek protection.

I think the reason I didn't like this was that it was a little too young for me. I love middle grade but I felt like this is for much younger readers. The characters felt flat and the plot wasn't that entertaining.

I wish I liked this, but it fell flat for me.

Honestly, this poetry collection just was not for me. I really did not understand any of the poems. They felt kinda thrown together and a lot of them didn't make sense to me. The poems felt rushed and I couldn't connect to any of them. I'm sure there is an audience for this, it just wasn't for me, unfortunately.

THE PLOT
Alicia has the perfect life until one evening after her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and then never speaks another word. Theo Faber is a criminal psychotherapist and he is determined to get Alicia to talk and explain why she shot her husband.

MY OPINION
I read this book in a couple of hours, so that says something. But after finishing it I was kinda mad. Everyone has hyped up the plot twist and I was dying to know what it was. I was suspicious of every character, but after finding out the twist I was honestly let down. I didn't feel connected to the characters and the writing really wasn't anything special. I think this book is between 2-3 stars, I honestly can't decide.

I think this is one of my favorite books I've read in a while! I fell in love with Taylor and Helen, and I loved watching their relationship grow into something more. I could really relate to Helen and understand her. Taylor was ADORABLE!!! I fell in love with him and I love how much he cared for Helen. Also, the spicy scenes were so good, I wanted more. I adore Helen and Taylor and I definitely will be thinking about them for a long time. They are just the cutest couple ever!

Eric LaRocca has become one of my favorite authors. The first story THINGS HAVE GOTTEN WORSE SINCE WE LAST SPOKE was good but not as good as I remember. It definitely hit as good the second time reading it, I would give the first story 3 stars. The second story THE ENCHANTMENT was my favorite. I absolutely loved this story. The religious tones were so interesting. This story had me hooked, I could not stop reading it. I would give this story 5 stars, I want a full-length novel of this story. The last story YOU'LL FIND IT'S LIKE THAT ALL OVER was really good. It wasn't my favorite but I did not hate it. I would give this story 3.75 stars. Overall, I'm giving this collection 4 stars.

This was my first Skye Warren book and I'm definitely going to read more from her! I devoured this book, I was hooked from the very first page. Sienna has been through so much in her life. She puts up these walls so people don't get close to her. She has fought everyday just to live. I really enjoyed reading from her perspective and see what she thinks about people. Logan has a dark past that we really don't know about and I can't wait to find out more. He has all of these secrets and Sienna wants to find out what they are. This book was so fasted paced and so intense! I love the circus setting, it was a lot of fun to read about that. This does end on a cliffhanger and I need the second book!!

This book was just not it for me. I struggled SO MUCH reading this. I didn't like the characters and they felt flat to me. The writing was okay but nothing special. I can understand why people are giving this good reviews but it just was not for me.
