Chloe Brown is a chronically ill computer geek with a goal, a plan, and a list. After almost—but not quite—dying, she’s come up with seven directives to help her “Get a Life”, and she’s already completed the first: finally moving out of her glamorous family’s mansion. The next items?
• Enjoy a drunken night out.
• Ride a motorcycle.
• Go camping.
• Have meaningless but thoroughly enjoyable sex.
• Travel the world with nothing but hand luggage.
• And... do something bad.
But it’s not easy being bad, even when you’ve written step-by-step guidelines on how to do it correctly. What Chloe needs is a teacher, and she knows just the man for the job.
Redford ‘Red’ Morgan is a handyman with tattoos, a motorcycle, and more sex appeal than ten-thousand Hollywood heartthrobs. He’s also an artist who paints at night and hides his work in the light of day, which Chloe knows because she spies on him occasionally. Just the teeniest, tiniest bit.
But when she enlists Red in her mission to rebel, she learns things about him that no spy session could teach her. Like why he clearly resents Chloe’s wealthy background. And why he never shows his art to anyone. And what really lies beneath his rough exterior…

This book was so cute and I don't know why I held of on reading it sooner. I loved how it didn't necessary contain any specific tropes - just two people getting to know each other.
Also the conflict at the end as stupid as it was, I actually liked cause it was resolved quickly and it made me cry because it reminded me of previous relationships.
I'm definetely going to be reading dani's and eve's books after this!!
Love is certainly never safe, but it's worth it.
Loved this, loved Chloe and her sisters, loved just how prickly Chloe was on bad pain days - I don't have fibromyalgia, but I have endometriosis, another chronic pain condition, and when it flares, I'm not fun to be around. I really just enjoyed this book a whole lot, honestly; the MCs' problems and insecurities made a lot of sense and were worked through in a realistic way, and I also liked that there was no last-minute appearance from the evil ex (on either side, really, but I mostly meant Pippa), which can sometimes be effective but is usually not my favorite trope. I'm so happy this is going to be a series, and I would also like to respectfully request a flashback novella or something about Gigi, who is awesome and needed to be in this book even more.
For the Read Harder Challenge item #4: Read a book in any genre by a POC that's about joy and not trauma. There was some trauma referenced here, but overall it was just fun. Great banter. I liked it enough to want to go on to read about the other two Brown sisters.
this book made me smile and giggle and have a ton of fun during a time in my life when there was otherwise no fun and for that i'll never forget it
the hype surrounding this book and talia hibbert is totally warranted (and i'm absolutely sure, even after only reading one of her books). her writing is fun and quick and quippy without missing a beat in terms of relationship or character building. chloe, red and even all the side characters felt incredibly real and critical to the story, which is something i feel like a lot of romance books struggled with but get a life, chloe brown excelled at.
my one gripe (and the reason i couldn't give this the full five stars) was red himself. i just really didn't like him as a love interest outside of the quippy conversations and fun rapport, so i got uncomfortable at some points with his (very horny) inner drivel and how he spoke to chloe at times.
that being said, i am SO excited to get my hands on copies of the rest of the brown sisters series, because i can't wait to meet the other sisters more in-depth! i have a feeling i'll see (perhaps too much of myself) in dani hahaha
