Another first time author for me. Not an author I'd heard of before, so I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading! Well, I'm glad I decided to give it a go, because just wow! It was an amazing read with fast paced action and the good guys that you were definitely rooting for. Likeable characters, fast paced action plus twists you didn't see coming added to a fantastic read! Would highly recommend this book!
This was brilliantly written, not just because of all the action but because of all the humour too! I know it's supposed to be serious, what with all the grisly crimes, but honestly there were times when I couldn't help but laugh out loud at the one liners...Oh and it of course helps that Inspector Logan McRae is soooo likeable. First one I've read in this series and after that, I'm definitely hoping to read the rest of the books in the series! Would definitely recommend this to others!
Ended up reading the first one second and the second one first, but that didn't stop this being any less compelling! It was fast paced with plenty of action and it was definite page turner! Would definitely recommend to others!
This series has been a great read so far! Love the characters and the full on action!
Ahh, my poor Finch! Getting manipulated again and again! I'm rooting for you, Finch and I hope you give the lot of them what's coming to them! Oh and I hope you get your happily ever after, because if anyone deserves it its you!
Great read again, as this series has been from the start! Love Finch's sense of humour and I'm looking forward to reading about him fighting back in the next book!
That was sooooo good! Apart from the fast paced action, which I totally love in a book, the writing was excellent too. You could literally feel the characters emotions coming off the pages as you read along! It really felt like you were there with Lyra, Dorian and the rest feeling their pain, grief, sadness, loss, etc.
Excellent read and I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out!
I would've given this a 5 star, but the ending sucked. Not the writing itself, but more because of what happened to Finch! Poor guy just can't catch a break! I really hope that changes at some point and that Erubus, Kaya, Lux and anyone else who has made Finch's life a misery get what's coming to them!
Really, really enjoyed reading this! Don't get to travel much so it was so much fun travelling around the world vicariously with Eva and Thor! I loved how descriptive the writing was. The hugely likeable characters plus the humour also made it a pleasure to read. This is the first of Holly's books I've read and after how much I've enjoyed this I'm looking forward to reading the rest!
I really enjoyed this. It was a great lighthearted read and I loved the dual storyline split between 1940 and 2020! It might not be for everyone but for me as someone who enjoys lighthearted reads with a bit of romance thrown in, it was perfect.
Ahh, what to say about this one? This was an interesting read, in so far as it kept my attention and kept me turning the pages. The characters on the other hand, well none were very likeable apart from Chris. Jack was an arrogant, awful shite! And Faye was no better! Really did not like either of them! But saying that, despite the awful characters, it was still a captivating read.
This was my first book by Camilla and I will definitely be reading more of her books!
This was a fantastic read. A lighthearted read that I really enjoyed. I loved Jim and Zara! And also loved the humour in the book which had me laughing out loud at times! If you want a lighthearted read, you should definitely give this one a go!
That was a very enjoyable read! I loved Olive and Alexis! Everyone needs a friend/neighbor like Olive!
It was well written and definitely had you wanting more!
I'm really enjoying this series, but I have to say this one was a little slow to start off with. Nothing of consequence really happened in the first few chapters. I have to admit it made me impatient, but it picked up later and the first few chapters aside, I enjoyed the rest of the book and can't wait to read the next one! Ps. Un is one arrogant arbiter...Without giving anything away, I'm glad Lyra managed to knock him down a peg!
That was fantastic! It was so good to read chapters split between Harley and Finch again! I love the bond that has festered between them since their mission on Eris Island and which has only grown stronger as we've gone on through the books, even when the two of them weren't always together.
I love their humour which had me laughing out loud at times. Whilst I love them and their motley crew, the same can't be said about that humongous pain in the ass Davin! Honestly as a HP fan I didn't think there'd ever be a character I hated more than Umbridge, but Davin definitely gives her a run for her money! I honestly felt myself sharing Finch's fury at how often that asswipe, as Finch would call him, managed to get the better of them!
This book was very well written and I thoroughly enjoyed it (even though at times I wanted to reach through the pages and give Davin a slap!).
I look forward to reading the next book which is about Harley and Wade's daughter, Persie and her adventures. Genie and her (together atleast) sound to be as troublesome as Harley and Finch lol. Will be interesting to see what kind of trouble she gets into!
What to say about this one? I had high expectations for this book after reading the synopsis, but sadly it failed to live up to expectations. I love a good crime/murder book, but this one just didn't do it for me.
Annie wasn't really likeable as a character and I really couldn't care what happened to her.
It started off well enough but then it fast became less plausible, with characters making stupid mistakes and a lack of proper police procedures. Normally a book like this would have scenes that take place in a police station, with a detective working out of there with a team allocated to them.
Also the fact that Crabb (detective) relied so much on Annie made it less plausible. I mean, I get he wanted her input because she knew the deaf community well, but allowing her to come to the crime scenes? I'm sure the police have pretty strict rules on that!
Unfortunately this is not a book I will be recommending to others.
Thank you to the Pigeonhole app and to Jocelyn for the opportunity to read the book.
This was slow to start with and I wasn't sure I'd carry on reading it, but I persisted. I'm glad I did because it turned out to be an enjoyable read in the end.
The scenes interchanged between Rome, London, Oxford and Blackpool, but the one I loved reading about was Rome! The author's descriptive writing made you feel like you were actually there! It was a great form of escapism.
Alf and Letty were likeable characters which had you rooting for them. As always, like in most books, there were a couple of not very likeable characters too.
It's a nice romantic read, but probably not everyone's cup of tea.
I read this on The Pigeonhole app, so thanks to them and to Kate for the chance to read this book.
Brilliant book. Fast paced thriller that was full of action, which made the book something that's right up my alley!
It also helped that John was such a likeable character that made you really want him to come out on top.
It was my first time reading a book by James Deegan and it didn't disappoint meaning I'll definitely be reading other books by him!
It was my first time reading a book by Tom Bradby and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this!
It was captivating and I would probably have read it in one go if I'd had an actual cooy of the book (another book read on Pigeonhole, so it was a stave a day!).
Kate was a really likeable character, who you really felt bad for at times. She seemed really lonely and the insomnia and pressures of work didn't really help her.
There were some unanswered questions left in this book, so I'm pleased that there will be a third book, which will be published next year! Will be waiting impatiently waiting for that to come out! I haven't read the first one, so I'll be looking to read that in the meantime!
Would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a good thriller!
Ahh, this was brilliant! Loved reading about Lyra, Dorian and Co's fight against the Immortal Council and the fight to get the tear fixed!
My only complaint is that we lost one of my favourite characters in this series and I can honestly say it literally broke my heart!
Great book that I really enjoyed reading! I read it on the Pigeonhole app, so I read it in staves (one a day), but if I'd had an actual copy of the book I probably would have read it in one go!The twists and turns kept coming and it had me totally hooked.
The characters weren't particularly likeable apart from the Detectives, but that didn't stop it from being a compelling read! Callum was an arrogant ass and I honestly don't know what the women in the story saw in him!
Would definitely recommend it to others!
This was an excellent read. Full of fast-paced action and twists and turns that you don't see coming! I love a good spy book and this was definitely one of them.
I loved Sean, Jack and Laura! The latter was particularly funny, making me laugh out loud a few times. She wasn't the only one though, as there were humourous moments involving Jack and Sean too.
I haven't read the first two books in this series and will definitely read those whilst I wait impatiently to meet Sean and Co in the 4th book to come after this, called The Third Avenue.
If you like the spy genre, then this is definitely a book for you. Michael does an excellent job of making you think one thing throughout the story, only to turn everything on it's head by the time you reach the end.
Thank you to The Pigeonhole app and Michael Jenkins for the opportunity to read this book!
I absolutely loved reading this book. The combination of football, humour and friendship made it a really fun read.
Although it started off being mainly about football, it morphed into more than that. It became about the humans of Palangonia fighting for their lives.
It was really well written and I loved the humour in it, which had me laughing out loud throughout the book! Thanks for that, Scott!
If you love football, you should definitely should give it a go. Actually, even if you don't know anything about football, I think you should still give it a go!
Thank you to the Pigeonhole and Scott Innes for giving us the opportunity to read this book!
This book is probably too cliched for some, but I personally enjoyed it for what it was. A nice, easy, lighthearted read, that probably would be good for the beach!
I liked Tish and Aiden, but sadly can't say the same for Vicki, Tish's sister! She was awful!
I also loved reading about the diving scenes! Great escapism!
Thanks to Pigeonhole and Tricia for the opportunity to read this book.
Where to even begin with this?! A powerful, emotionally charged book that was so brilliantly written that you literally felt the emotions coming off the pages!
Caroline takes you on a journey through the devastating aftermath of an accident that rips through not only the characters involved in the accident, but their families and a few others that were directly impacted by the accident.
Caroline walks you through the journey of guilt, grief, sadness, anger, shame and forgiveness that the characters go through as they come to terms with the loss of a loved one!
It was so well written that you felt yourself feeling each character's emotions as you read about them. It was so heartbreaking at times that it bought tears to my eyes.
I honestly can't speak highly enough of this book! If you read any books this year, make this one of them! It's definitely become one of my favourite books of the year!
Thank you to Pigeonhole and Caroline Bond for the chance to read this incredible book!
This was a really good book, but so gut wrenchingly, heartbreaking at times. A beautifully well written story about the sacrifices you make for the one you love.
Joel and Callie were immensely likeable characters which made it easy to share their pain. It wasn't all heartbreak and sadness though as their were some humourous and heartwarming moments too.
I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend to others!
Thank you to Pigeonhole and Holly for the chance to read this book.
