Probably I could have like it in a play but these short stories felt so plain and it was hard to care for the characters. I anticipated this book for a long time and I guess I was a little disappointed :(
If Mean Girls was directed by Ari Aster. Crazy, sick af, not for everybody, that's for sure. But if you wanna join a wild ride, go ahead.
Saramago uses words in a way that you feel everything he tells. It was slow at the beginning but then it was like a river. If I could give ten stars I would give without even thinking.
I wish that the book has only the short stories instead of one general story. This male and female reader concept really bored me down with the way of sexist storytelling but short stories kept me reading.
It was a nice book to read especially if you are interested in mythology and have some background in this. The only problem was although each event was different from the others, they were similar in heart. The story turned into a cycle that was reiterated constantly. Nevertheless, I believe I enjoyed the Song of Achilles more than Circe.
They're just so precious that I can't stop reading and thinking about them! I love the darkness and bitterness yet intimate and lovely sensations of this story. And definitely will read the rest of the books! ♥️
If I could give 5 thousand stars, I'd do it. This book is everything I asked for in a book for the past few years.
How should I begin with? At the first chapters, the book really pulled me inside the story–maybe I should say “into that Silent House”. But oh Dear, it went into a stage that it was even hard to read one single page. I love slow stories that bloom later and read a lot but this one didn't work out for me. As I kept reading the more I hate the characters, for God's sake they annoyed me to the hell. And these monologs of their brain gave me headaches. Surprisingly, Grandma and Selahattin's parts were far more interesting than those younger ones. I wanted to love this book, unfortunately it is a no for me.
It was the first book I read from Dazai, and I absolutely loved it! Such an intriguing story.
It was a weird book. I don't even know what should I feel or what I am feeling at the moment. But I kinda like this weirdness. It was the second book that I read from Dazai and it won't be the last one.
Sometimes you don't need fancy words to describe the world you live within. In a book that which has lots of revenge, EOs, heroes and villains, you don't need them. Even though Vicious was a bit shorter than I expected, characters were not shallow and I liked that. Yeah, you guess what is next and you can guess the ending which is obvious. But believe me, it doesn't change the taste and Vicious was delicious.
DNF. The most boring Murakami book I've read. Didn't interest me one bit and I won't force myself into finishing it.
