I did end up enjoying it some, but I found it hard to get into, and in general I think it's just a case of ‘this story isn't for me'. Huck Finn is a little too reckless and adventurous for me to not constantly feel like he's in danger. And Tom Sawyer is just.... a bad influence? Like that boy is just too much. Wayyyyyyy too much. I couldn't deal with him. 
Whenever The King and The Duke were around I was worried for Huck Finn's safety. By the time Huck Finn reaches Aunt Sally he has become more tolerable, and when Tom Sawyer shows up, Tom is clearly the worse of the two, which automatically puts Huck Finn in a better light. 
I don't know, there were some parts to enjoy, but for the most part it just wasn't for me.

I don't know what to say about this book except that after listening to the audiobook, it severely warrants a re-read, possibly before continuing. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed it and I adore Gideon and Harrow. Gideon was particularly surprising as I had assumed from the name that she was a man but knew based on fanart that she was not entirely sketched as such. She turned out to be a fantastic narrator for the story though, and I really enjoyed her arc, as well as Harrow's arc. Just a great book about lesbians and necromancers.

There was so much potential for this storyline, but it kind of fell flat for me. I didn't connect with the characters as much as I would have liked, and I think that was mainly because of the way it was written, which, to be frank, wasn't very well. I don't know if the version was just a sort of arc or something, but there were so many mistakes, missing words, etc. Another thing was that, while I actually did like the main character, I found that she made so many stupid decisions! And instead of talking about stuff she just ran, and I know that it was like a whole thing in the book, this “Fight or flight” thing, but she had promised him AND herself that she wouldn't leave and of course, she did and for the one chapter she was away from him, she did nothing but talk about how much she loved him. WHY. WHY. WHY. The epilogue was odd as well because it was suddenly from Remy's POV, and to be completely honest, I felt like the romance was very much lust and not love, that we were told they loved each other and not showed so much.
Just eh. Wished it was better.

God, yes, this was so good! 
When I read this the first time, I had this idea that the story was “slow” but it worked in its favor. And now, as a more experienced reader if you will, I have figured out that that is only half true.
What is true is the fact that the book (and really, the series as a whole) is not as action-packed or fast-paced in the same way a lot of other YA fantasy is (think Throne of Glass, Heroes of Olympus, Shadowhunter Chronicles, etc.), but it's not slow. Tons of things happen, and the pacing is simply perfect. It works incredibly well for this type of mystery. I love how the reveals always feel earned because of all the foreshadowing. It's just so good!
Sigh. Moving on to the next as quickly as possible omg.
