The banter, the tropes, the plot, just everyhting contributed ot this being a boring read. I got to a point that I skipped chapters 33-40 and didn't feel lost at all which is not a good sign.
It's a really interesting world, but the characters themselves are the weakpoint imo. The main character feels like the author is trying too hard to make them a BA but they end up, at least to mo, as more of an a-hole. I picked up cheaply on audibles sale and will probably continue to the next book since I think both cost me $6 total.
Better than the first book. I do like that no clues are “hidden” so if you're paying attention you could come to the correct conclusion at the same time as the MC.
Honestly enjoyed it more than i expected. The narrator did a good job first I've heard by them.
Honestly, not really engaging I'm halfway through and gave up. I have liked other novels by PJ tracy but this was uninspired and I couldn't care about the characters.
I was surprised how much I enjoyed this relaxing listen. Chugged through it in about a day and a half
You know for a short story that is maybe an hour, this felt drawn out. Kind of predictable and not very exciting.
I enjoyed a decent amount of the book and would like to see more of this universe, but something's are just not explained and it feels like it's assumed you just know what is being talked about.
I loved the first one, the second one was narrated by a different person but that didn't bother me as much as I didn't find the story as enjoyable. I find it frustrating when a character acknowledges they are making a mistake in the moment, multiple times they acknowledge they are doing something wrong, but still double down on the mistake.
I still enjoyed the series even though it's a light listen, I do wonder with how book 3 ended if that's the end or if there will be more.
It was ok, the one-liners and quips were kind of immersion-breaking to me. not the worst but not the best.
The level of cringe alone didn't let me make it more than 10% into this book. This book is the most self-aggrandizing story outside of a harem novel I've seen.
I made it about 40% in, listening to the audible version. The Narrator performance is really good, and is the main reason I listed this as a 3 star. The MC is written to be a certain way but has regularly made decisions contrary to how he was written so far in the book. Also it's pointed out multiple times that he doesn't play games and has never played a mmorpg but he knows what a lifehack is? It just hit a point for me that I can't suspend disbelief anymore and will move on to something else.
I started off liking this but bout mid way it started feeling like it was dragging on. Sadly there was not real plot twist, it was all very predictable, by then end I was just ready to be done with this to move on. I enjoyed the pulpy old radio shows more than this.
