An enthralling short story. I bought this to support one of my favorite YouTubers (Tim DeMoss), so the charming read–and adorable illustrations–were the cherry on top. Although short and simple, it is in no way mundane. At the crux of the story is the question: How do we know we are alive and living a fulfilling live? Is it because we meticulously record everything so we know it happened or is it because we revel in the moment with no regard for what the past or present holds? In it's fleeting 28 pages it's sure to make you ponder where you've been headed and your approach to life. A thought-provoking gem that lingers in your mind long after the final page.
Reads more like an essay in metaphysics, the ramblings of a stranger who we become accustomed to, and even start to root for. Although it can feel a bit eclectic at time (the paragraph-long sentences certainly don't help), there are gems that compel-if not force-you to close the book and ruminate. The giddy feeling of encountering fresh ideas and perspectives pervades its pages. It’s the kind of book that reveals new layers of meaning at different stages of life—an intellectually demanding but deeply rewarding read.
