it would actually have to be a 3.5 ☆ ☆ ☆ just b/c i was having trouble keeping up w/ the book. it's beautifully written. i enjoyed the pov from the characters but @ some points it was hard to track what im reading, not sure why it was so difficult for me w/ this book, i had to read it twice anyways another reason why i enjoyed it was b/c it's not your typical mermaid book. it's a siren dark scary type of book. it shows how mermaids actually are, you know their true self not sweet mermaids like Ariel. another reason is b/c it's also poetic, i was annotating every part i would see.
i personally love mermaids & believe they exist or @ least once did. & i definitely agree w/ them being completely different they what people expect them to be. it's definitely more realistic to me. i wish i can be a mermaid & live @ sea. sigh. not a good review for such a good book, don't let it stop you from reading it !! pick it up & give it a go !!
not much to say but for a cheesy book that made me not want to read anymore it still grabbed my attention wanting to know what will she do next.
this is my first time doing a written review, i won't be going in depth of it b/c i'm not very good @ it. just want to say that this book had me non stop reading. it's one of those books that once you pick up you can't put it down. it had so much going on but ignoring that fact i still kept @ it.
i did enjoy it though, it kept me entertained & hooked. i was also annotating all the time. it struck me w/ so many emotions that when i would catch myself reaction a certain way i would put a hand on my forehead, sigh & laugh.
i did stop for a moment due to not having my pens to keep annotating(smh) throughout that time i just kept thinking about how things would end & how close alex was to getting her truth. it kept me awake waiting for answers. i would catch myself thinking what would happen next & always left surprised & wanting more. i also had a lead & i was in fact right by the end & was still taken by surprise !
i also want to give the author amazing round of applause for doing so good in the writing. they did amazing work getting help from friends, getting correct information & wanting to know how it all works so there is no mistake. i respect them for that, 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ for me!
as for wanting to write this review it was b/c i had downloaded this app again after losing my old account. i'm not into describing what i have read only b/c i would go so deep into giving a review that i would want to read it again after done writing haha. this is not the type of review everyone wants to look for but if i can make others read a book i enjoyed then great! just wanted to say that...
to begin with this has taken me longer then it should have been to write a review. i was in such of a good mood when i was reading this. i never wanted to put it down. i could've finished it in one day to be honest but i held back. so...WOW as a huge fan of harley quinn i honestly thought it wasn't going to be good enough but i was wrong !! the author did such a good job writing harley's character to be perfect, it felt like i was reading a comic to be honest ! i was imagining everything that was going on, especially when the gang was doing their projects against the horrible disgusting men to ever exist. I HATE MEN.
this also takes place before everything, before she BECAME harley quinn. it talks about her life and the people she has met as time is passing that slowly pathed her way to becoming one of Gotham's villain without herself and them knowing. Other than one person; Bernice. i love and live for LGBTQ+ books since i myself am pansexual <3 ANYWAYS when i found out that the book i bought was harley who i love and love the idea of her be attracted to females is a bonus !! i decided i had to read it right away. in reality it took me a year to pick this book up only because i didn't want to read it without having the other two books but i gave in and it was such a good idea. except for now having to wait to get them...sigh. oh the joker also pops up. i just know in the next books i'll get more; maybe.
from scenery, to verbal expression if that's correct to all the good things that put a book together it was all perfect to what it makes basically harley. don't know if that made sense, im sorry if it doesn't.anyways, i give it a 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ !!! Rachel Allen, ma'am keep up the amazing work, i would love more H.Q books !!!
to begin with this review I want to start by saying Emmie was a bit relatable. from “faking” her personality at work because it's full of men to faking orgasms lol i relate a bit. i had a good time reading this. it made me laugh and cringe a little bit...but that's alright. for the amount of discomfort i would say between Tate and Emmie in the beginning, it had me stressed because how can Emmie overthink so much when you just met this man. as time went by they got closer as usual and it was all butterflies and roses. Emmie started crushing on Tate even though he would sometimes still be a bit rude to her. Tate was already in love but due to the past he didn't know how to get Emmie without fucking things up.
their relationship was really cute and goofy i really enjoyed them finally getting together. they reminded me of teenagers to be honest. the spiciness of the book was not much but it definitely suited the story. it was like a enemies to lovers type book with a slow burn i would say. it also had some parts that had me covering my mouth in gasp because of what was happening but i don't want to give spoilers since i think i already gave enough. overall great writing other than one line that did not pass but i won't let it affect my rating. good story build up, character development as well which i really loved especially with Tate. god how i love this man. Tate and Emmie reminded me of my boyfriend and i which i also really love.
another thing, Tate goiong down on Emmie because that's his own pleasure is AMAZING. thats it. i give it a 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ for a debut book, Ms. Smith please make this into a series because the way in ended did not sit right with me !!!! if you like comedy, romance, even enemies to lovers or all in three this book is for you go and give it read !
i read this book really fast to be honest. something about short chapters makes the book easier to read and wanting to read more. lets start of with Ayoola. man did this female really had me annoyed. she thought because she is pretty and has no flaws she needs to get everything she wanted. she did but thats not the point. actually i dont know if i even have a point i just know she pissed me off a lot because of it. her murdering the men i believe she did it because she wouldn't get her way. it never really said what was the reason on why she killed them other than the guys coming at her, as in attacking them
what i did like was how well written it was. how koede helps her sister get rid of the body and cleaning the murder room to be spotless. i give her a round of applause for sticking around. it doesn't matter if the murderer is blood. if you do not feel safe being around that person, fuck them ! LITERALLY what is the reason for you to stay “oh i can change them” “its my baby sister/brother” “they need me” please if they are old enough to know that killing is bad then thats it.
anyways, i also liked how ayoola was getting away with it. and at the end got her way. it is literally shocking how close she was on getting caught that it made me keep reading and wanting to find out what is happening next. the men in this book all suck especially the father. their father reminded me of my dad and didn't really trigger me but it did make me think a lot. the book in general made me have a connection with both sisters minus the killing. i have not much to say other than being a 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ will there be a second book ? i would love to continue this book !! you like comedy/murder/sisters this is a good book for you. give it a go !
this was another great book the only issue with it for me would be the typos >.< i strongly dislike mistakes on a book. that is why they have editors read it and EDIT the book right ? for Karen to drop her books and still have mistakes is not it for me that is why i am going to give it a 4.5 and not a 5 ☆☆☆☆ other than that i love her writing and the creativity of her books.
i don't really like reading series when i don't have all the books but this series took all of my attention and i stay reading and not put it down because of how interesting it is. there is a lot happening. from Sara meeting her family that she did not expect to fighting vampires. a lot. finally accepting her feelings for Nikolas. learning more and more about herself, and training. making new friends etc.
i love all supernatural and reading about Sara and what she goes through throughout time when she finally moved to the base where all Mohiri warriors are at makes me feel like i have been there as well. my imagination is very wild and i love imagining everything. with how Karen writes and describes everything, it makes it easier for me to use my imagination and follow along making my own movie in my head. about that, these books would definitely be good as movies. as long as they don't ruin it like every other show/movie they do based on books. i hope the rest of the books don't have typos i would love to give her books 5 stars !!
if you are interested in supernatural, fantasy or romance or a mixture of all, this is a good series for you. trust me it will get all your attention and before you know it you'll be onto the next book. go and read it !!! if you want of course.
I am a fan of vampires, werewolves, all that magic stuff and to read a book where i got more then what i was expecting being honest...i loved it !! It had me hooked wanting to keep reading and finding out what was happening although when the events were happening i kinda had an idea not sure if that's just how good i am (just kidding) or it was suppose to be like that. I also did have times where i was wrong probably twice but its a series so who knows maybe something can happen in the future as i read right. If that makes sense.
Anyways, I love when i read a good book. It means it has all the good bits; good plot, well written, not wanting to put it down, staying late at night reading, etc. See it has all the good qualities for a 5 star book. The thing is that it had some typos and for some reason I strongly dislike seeing errors on books. It can be a sentence or a word it doesn't matter to me.
Besides that...I was satisfied with this first book of many. Good ending because it ended right on good timing. It didn't leave me hanging because I knew what was happening at the end and had an idea of what will happen next. (sorry no spoilers) It had my imagination running and I love when it happens while im reading, it makes it better as i imagine everything that is happening and really feeling like im there. and WOWW there were some amazing scenes that i would love to really see and experience other than my mind cries I was also able to connect and understand the characters I am excited to read Refuge, second book of the series.
At the end I give this a 4.5☆☆☆☆☆ GO READ IT !!
