I really have yet to meet a Freida McFadden book that I haven't liked. Is it totally based in reality? No, but that's what I love about her books and this book in particular. I saw some errors with some of the police work and other things, but I'm here for a good story so it doesn't need to be 100% based on facts.
So I recommend that you give this a go and just enjoy the ride. It's a lot of fun!
This book is very beautiful and informative. It gives a good, in depth, overview of the carnivore diet and does it in a way that is easy to understand. I have followed Judy Cho and Laura Spath for a few years now and really like how they are always very level with their information. I definately think this is worth the read even if you do not choose to follow this path. I think this book could also make it easy for those who want to follow a temporary elimiation diet to help with gut and other internal issues.
Thanks NetGalley for this ARC!
I loved the first 3 books of the WITSEC series. Sure parts didn't make sense, but I read for fun and not always for realism. I was dying for book 4 and it fell flat.
This was my first why choose, RH romance and I have to say, if they're all like this then I'm not a fan. I just can't fully get my head around the logistics of what they were talking about near the end of the book and how that would work in real life to make it make sense.
Also, I didn't understand all the reasons for the sex. Have a bad dream, have sex. Have an emotional meltdown, here's some sex. Not a fan of sex for comfort I guess.
Anyway, I was just overall disappointed. 3 stars because there were parts I genuinely liked.
The writing in this book felt rather juvenile right from the start. I felt that most plot points were overly predictable and I didn't really enjoy it. Could be a good airplane read due to its simplicity.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book.
Islas is a beautiful cookbook. It is laid out in a way that is visually enjoyable. I loved that the regions are identified in the main table of contents and the table of contents in each recipe section. I tried the Chamoru Barbecue Chicken and it was delicious. Most, if not all, recipes contain items that are commonly found in a well stocked kitchen. If you're drawn to the allure of tropical and Caribbean cooking, “Islas” is a must-explore culinary adventure.
The characters within were very well developed for being such a short novella. The way the dialog was written, I could distinctly hear each character's voice. However, this book wasn't for me and not for the subject matter as I knew what I was getting into. I just felt that some areas could be more developed or discussed further which I understand can't easily be done in a novella. Chaz has great potential and I look forward to reading his subsequent books in the future.
Thanks for the review copy Chaz ♥️
I really liked this one. It was the light read I needed after reading some heavy books. Sure it's not at all perfect, but I didn't need it to be. I wasn't wild about the ending, could have been way better. But overall it was a fun little read.
“As It Stands” is a captivating collection of short horror stories that defies the conventional expectations of the genre. While short stories aren't typically my preference, Salinas's masterful storytelling drew me in effortlessly. His descriptive prowess brings each tale to life, creating vivid mental images that linger long after the book is closed. Salinas's writing, almost poetic in its beauty, adds an extra layer of depth to the chilling narratives, making this collection a standout in the realm of horror literature.
“As It Stands” proves that brevity can indeed be the soul of horror when crafted with the finesse exhibited by Matthew Salinas.
The story was good. Definitely a lot of unexpected twists and turns. It did feel a bit slow about 75% of the way through, but I stuck with it since I wanted to know what happened in the past and how it was foreshadowing the present. Definitely worth the read and an excellent debut novel!
This cookbook is so amazing! I have read many health related cookbooks over the years and often the recipes are minimal, stuff I would never make, ingredients are expensive and hard to access. This one however....OMG!
There are so many amazing recipes, most of which are extremely easy to make. Mostly all of the ingredients are excessable and inexpensive with the exceptions of sweetners, certain flours, and protein powders. However, they aren't included in most of the recipes, so you can easily bypass those that have those ingredients and have an amazing experience if you're on a budget. The recipes are also easily scaled up, so you want to make a bigger batch, you can do so. Otherwise the yield on all of the recipes is a really perfect amount for 1-2 people.
The layout of this cookbook is perfect. I love the pre and post workout recipe options and love the inclusion of rest days. I also found the information in the beginning of the book to be very valuable. I personally see a dietitian as part of my health journey and I found a lot of what she says echoed in this cookbook. There is no restriction, no weird conditions, and no weird health fad feel in this cookbook.
This cookbook is a definately a tool to add to your tool belt in your health journey. It's not going to disappoint or get boring.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this cookbook. I will be pre-ordering a physical copy, that's how much I loved this cookbook!
This book is going to stick with me. It was slow, but deliciously so. I loved how conflicted I was if what Roos said was true or if she truly was mad due to her past trauma. I felt so much when reading this - sadness, happiness, nervousness. This one will stick with me for a long time.
The writing was beautiful. I love the old style of speaking language that Roos had in both conversations, but also in her POV. I really hope she gets her happy ending.
I always like a good ghosty, religious-y story. I liked the pacing of the story and the addition of different folklore. This was a fun read
First, thank you to the author for the copy of the book.
I really wanted to love it. The premise sounded so magical and interesting that I couldn't wait to dig in. However, I kept finding myself so confused over what was happening and wasn't sure if it was me or if the story was just making me feel so lost. After chapter 8, I realized that I was lost. I was catching a lot of what was going on, but there is so much fluff in between that it wasn't flowing very well. Conversation between characters was stunted because there was so much inner monologue from Emma that I just didn't like. Also, some information would just pop out of nowhere and I would try to fit it in and just couldn't.
I wanted to love this book. I think with a solid edit that it would benefit greatly and I'd give it a go again if that occurs because the premise sounds so beautiful.
This is a really cute cookbook. I'm not normally a fan of comic book style books, but because it's about bread making and it's detailing all the steps, this format really works.
Let's Make Bread has a good number of bread loaves to make and variations to those recipies to expand even further.
I think this is a great book for beginners, but also for more experienced bread bakers as there is equipment mentioned that I've personally never used that could prove useful instead of “making it work” with what I have.
I highly recommend checking out this book if you want to try your hand at bread making. It's really fun and full of great information.
This cookbook is beautiful. I really loved the section on the Mexican Pantry that detailed all the items you may need to complete the recipes within along with a detailed description on those items in the event you're not familiar. I always find this helpful when I'm wanting to cook an ethnic dish.
The recipes themselves are organized by meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc) and the overall layout of the recipes makes them very easy to follow with the steps numbered. Another great feature is the picture that goes along with each dish so you can see what you're planning on making. I also loved the little blurb about each dish below the recipe name.
The notes (or Notas) are amazingly helpful. They either give helpful tips or substitutions in case an ingredient cannot be found which saves on possibly passing up on a dish simply due to lack of ingredients.
Having frequented Mexico over the years, this cookbook really brought me back and allowed me to feel like I was back there and not buried in snow and cold!
This book read like books I've enjoyed before. However, while I did enjoy the overall story, a lot was going on that it just felt like it was too much and the big reveals just fell flat. I also felt like I still don't know what truly happened as I kept getting information saying this thing happened to find out that it was really another person, but because Kendall only knew the part we heard first I wasn't even sure if I could rely on the secret information.
I will say that my favorite part was that the whole story took place in Ohio :-) So this book will hold a special place in my heart just for that.
The Therapist was a fun ride. I loved the back and forth conversations between all the characters. While I did figure out the twist, I didn't mind at all because of how the pieces were falling into place to make the big reveal.
This book was very well written. I really enjoyed the twists and turns. While it was a slow burn, it was a good slow burn. I never found that it got boring. The description of the various scenes really made this a detailed movie in my head. I really loved this book!

Never has a book totally wrecked me. I felt myself praying along side Peter to give him strength. This book just touched my heart and literally ripped it right out of me. Outstanding!
This book was stunning. I absolutely loved it. I do wish I could find out what happened to the world and why they were caged - but that's my own curiosity
I loved this book. I saw the parallels to Carrie easily, but how Mary was spun truly made it a different ride than Carrie. Loved the nod to (what I felt) the My Favorite Murder podcast. The way the author detailed the podcast made me instantly think of that one.
This book was a lot. It was refreshing to read a book about an older woman.
However, my favorite character wasn't Mary, it was Jane.
While I wasn't wild about the portrayal of Jeanne, the story overall was amazing. I really felt like I was in the small French town living out life along side Laurence. It's just the way Jeanne spoke that just rubbed me wrong. Not a fan of the term “pops” and just the overall American accent that was portrayed in Jeanne's chapters.
This book was definitely slow to get started. It didn't really begin to pick up the pace until the 60% mark, but I'm glad I stuck around to finish it because the ending was definitely unexpected. I'm not one that can usually guess the ending to a mystery/thriller, but I really thought I had this one pegged - not the case! This is really worth the read!
I liked it, but it dragged. I feel like some of it could have been just cut out. I did appreciate the twist at the end which helped link Exodus a little better. I got a little confused about the very ends POV. Just felt like it was slapped on and didn't really fit. Otherwise it would have gotten the 5 stars that the first two book got.
