See allWell-rounded characters and good writing, S.E. Hinton did a fantastic job with this story - and only at 15/16? Amazing.
The plot was easy to follow, and the narrative voice of Ponyboy was enjoyable, relatable, and at times, funny and witty. I also really liked the themes Hinton focused on - social divide, family, friends (ie. chosen family).
Made for a short read, would recommend to anyone.
Really loved the character development in this!!!! Kept me at the edge of my seat all of the fricking time.
I was a bit confused at the beginning, and got lost many times along the way but I think it was a very, very clever book. Roth's brain would definitely be a interesting place to visit.
The ending was a bit abrupt to my liking, and I'm a bit puzzled by it, but I have faith everything will be fixed by the last instalment! Can't wait!!!
Easy and fun read. I thought the world-building was beautiful and elaborate, a bit hard to follow at times though because of all of the descriptions. I didn't particularly like the dialogue used, but I guess that's just how I don't talk to people. Sometimes I felt that the repetition of an adjective or adverb ruined it for me, especially if it appeared a few lines after the first usage. But it was still enjoyable at some parts. Excited for the movie now.
I fell in love with the book when I was younger. Now after reading it for the second time, the storyline seemed a bit unreal. But the style of writing is fabbbbb.
My first Stephen King novel!!
Is it puny if I say I was very miserable reading this? It started out so slow and took so long to pick up to a pace I like. Maybe I'm just not a fan of this genre?? I don't know. Contemplated giving a 2 or 3 star rating - but 3 stars means I would most probably pick up another novel of his but I don't see myself doing that in a long time, at least.
