this book was genuinely so bad. i LOVE splatterpunk and extreme horror, so it's not the extreme gore, disgust and violence that led to me writing this review. it was the piss poor writing, lazy and confused plot and completely obvious money grab that was this sequel. i enjoyed the first book. the follow up should have been left in the drafts
bloody fun with some speculative elements and a summer setting- exactly what i was looking for!
3.5 ✨ this was extremely thrilling, fast paced and unputdownable! i love how this book felt like a movie and created an atmosphere of anxiety, but everything seemed almost too perfectly tied up at the end. it was too simple. i predicted the creator of the chain correctly and was waiting for another twist... but none came. overall, i liked the action and the plot, but the characters were flat and mediocre & the ending was odd.
I hope Lena is less of a main character in the rest of the series because her chapters are the reason I had to dock this one a star. That girl needs therapy ASAP.
4/5 stars! This was a compulsively readable and imminently entertaining novel about a man who balances not only a double life, but a TRIPLE life, with (you guessed it) triple the wives. This is like “The Wives”, but so much better. You're rooting for the 3 scorned women the whole time and always waiting for one of them to catch on to Jon/Jack/Trip. That waiting keeps you on the edge of your seat (and flipping pages). I really enjoyed the drama-filled ride, but the ending was a bit abrupt for me. I don't think the chapter from the husband's perspective was necessary (it just made me mad haha) and the last “epilogue-style” chapter ended very quickly with too little resolution after all of the build-up. Despite this, I would still definitely recommend The Three Mrs. Wrights!
a bunch of boring messy white people stab each other in the back and i couldn't care less
there were quite a few things i liked about this book (the character background and development, the overall “moral” of the story around greed, the mental health content, the small insertions of quirky humor amongst the gore, and of course the extreme gore and disgust.... this is splatterpunk, people) but there were also quite a few things i didn't enjoy (the writing had an overwritten quality to it that disturbed the fluency of the novella... every SAT word ever is not required lol, the ending (in my opinion) took a great meaningful story and undermined it by going full throttle into ridiculous humor and offensive stereotyping, and the very last sentence so obviously set us up for a sequel that we didn't need). overall, i feel like the good outweighs the bad here and if you're a fan of splatterpunk, you will definitely be entertained!
i love *SELF AWARE unlikable characters. this woman was just an unaware menace who bumbled around hurting people. she needs therapy in a big way.

pros: LOVED the MCs, the sidekick BFF and the single mom rep, mental health rep + addiction rep, the last act didn't annoy me too much
cons: the emotional depth wasn't there and i cared about the characters but i wasn't emotionally invested, it was fluffy and forgettable + the plot was pretty predictable
my best friends exorcism meets bird box & everything i've ever wanted in a horror novel
this book was terrifying, disturbing, brought me close to puking and gave me nightmares. i am not easily rattled by horror so that is saying a lot. i liked the themes and metaphors around power and generational trauma. however some of the disgusting scenes did not add to the story and were just shock for shock's sake.
The first and last 50 pages were outstanding and the epilogue was so haunting!! Heads up though if you don't like open/ambiguous endings. I thought the middle dragged a bit, but overall it was a very entertaining ~suburban drama~ style domestic thriller.

almost didn't give a 5 star bc of ledger's weird ass parents but the epilogue and authors note really got me. how does miss colleen continue to wreck me every time?!
4.5✨ I LOVED this book so much! It's Big Little Lies meets Where the Crawdads Sing, and it creates an atmosphere of Southern charm and suburban irony. This story has humor, mystery, heart and everything in between. I only wish I didn't accurately predict every plot twist. Still, a wonderful read!! ❤️
thank you chandler morrison for dragging the incels so hard that it went right over their heads, nestled sweetly into their subconscious and manifested in all of their one star reviews. this one's for tha girls!
