One of my favorite Lewis books. An easy read but very thought provoking if you look a little deeper.
If you're seeking, searching or questioning faith of any kind, I'd recommend including this book alongside whatever else you may be reading.
So far - I'm going back to Ireland at some point and will need to re-read this book before I do.
The first third was interesting history, the middle third came off a bit like whining right wing Christian politicians and the last third had a decent summary of recent attempts to help intelligent design become a viable alternative to evolution.
A great read, especially since I haven't seen the movie since it initially came out. I felt like I was reading about people I sort of knew, but could now get to know them even more in depth than I remembered them.
A great read, particularly as the world changes and adapts to whatever commerce is going to look like during and after COVID-19.
As much as it was a hyped book, I really did enjoy it on it's own merits. I think anyone, believer in God or not, could benefit from reading this book - especially if you are currently or have recently suffered great loss. While it's obviously written from a Christian (or perhaps disgruntled Christian is more accurate) perspective, there's much to learn about our world and why bad things happen and perhaps, why God seems to allow them to happen.
The book wasn't that exciting a read to be honest. I'm a fan of Grisham's courtroom dramas but until the last 1/3 of the book I didn't really care what happened.
Lots of great little nuggets of knowledge in this book - almost too much to take in and remember properly. If I'd been thinking of it at the beginning, I would've highlighted the interesting stuff as I went so that I could go back and easily remember/find it later.. but since I didn't I may have to read this again someday.
The first half I was able to keep going through the slower parts no problem because of the anticipation of more knowledge, but by the 2nd half the clever stories seemed to be less and less and it was more and more stats, data, etc and I found myself losing interest.
It could also have been due to a baby who didn't want to sleep and so I was reading it on little to no sleep. :)
Great. Loved it. I'll be re-reading this every so often when I need a fresh kick in the pants.
