✧My first Colleen Hoover Book Review ✧
Official Rating:⭐⭐
I'm giving this 2 stars because I like what this book could have been. It could have been a story about emotional healing and learning to love again. But I guess a healthy book is too much to ask from CoHo.
This book is a mess. I don't understand how people can find Ugly Love romantic. I wish people, including Colleen Hoover, understood that it's not up to romantic partners to solve a man's emotional problems.
My main issues with Ugly Love:
- What is with the weird ass step-sibling romance? Like CoHo what was going through your mind?
- Tate had no self-respect for the entire story. There were times when I couldn't read anymore because she just had no backbone.
- Miles desperately needed THERAPY. NOT “LOVE”.
- Most of the book is just depressing sex. I saw absolutely no actual chemistry/romance between Miles and Tate.
- Miles sucks. Tate sucks. I don't know why I should like either of them. They're just two sad, pathetic people.
✧New Moon Book Review✧
Official Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Everyone in this book is an idiot.
Edward for assuming Bella would be okay without him.
Bella for being self-destructive over Edward.
Jacob for thinking that Bella could forget about Edward.
They all irritated me to no end.
But I'm mostly mad that New Moon made me love Jacob!! Because I know SM will ruin him. She is only using his ‘exotic' allure to make the story (and Bella) more interesting. But he was so good for Bella and it's just irritating that it's the last book he'll be normal. Shaking my fist at Meyer right now, this book could have been good but instead, it is merely mediocre.
✧Eclipse Book Review✧
Official Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Eclipse was wild.
I think this is my favorite book of the series. Not because it's amazing or anything, but because of the last few chapters. I think SM wrote about Bella's emotional pain quite well.
But what really stood out to me was Jacob's POV in the epilogue. I loved it, even if SM truly ruined Jacob. In this book, he's pushy, manipulative and assaulted Bella not once but TWICE.
But when that epilogue hit...it made me wish that I loved Jacob. It was so interesting to see how he and the other werewolves talked to each other. Reading about his heartbreak was so intriguing too!! But I wish SM cared about telling a good story.
✧Twilight Book Review✧
Official Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
What can I say?
The first half of the book was pretty intense & intriguing, but the second half...Miss Meyer, please tell me why you put your action-packed conflict at the very end of the book. It felt rushed and like the ‘danger' Bella wasn't actually dangerous. It felt idiotic.
Worse, Bella & Edward obviously didn't develop at all, because they're still arguing over Bella wanting to be with him. By the end of the book, I was annoyed with both of them.
I'm reading New Moon next, and if the movie is at all accurate to the book, I'm going to be rolling my eyes the entire time.
Edited to ⭐⭐⭐ on 7/16/23:
I read the new exclusive epilogue chapter and enjoyed it a lot. I like that it shows how they're both awful and miserable. That's all I wanted.
What irks me is that I don't know if that was the epilogue's intention. Am I just supposed to feel sorry for them? Because the previous ending implied as much.
I really hope CoHo added it to fix people's complaints about Jeremy and Lowen. This book had potential, it really did.
