See all12,929 pages and 4,287,886 words of epicness. Hard to remember a time when I didn't have a Wheel of Time book in progress. How long do I wait before starting it all over again? :)
This has one of the most well-constructed, fulfilling ends to a series that I've experienced. Endings are so hard, which makes my respect that much greater. Well done.
It is very rare that I read a book quickly, choosing instead to take my time and be thoughtful with it. I dipped this one in butter and devoured it. This is all-time, top-5 level quality. It hits on subjects and themes that I love: sci-fi, military, heroic/flawed/”human” protagonist. One scene was so strong for me personally, that I was able to reflect and answer a question I've been pondering about myself for years. The writing style is wonderful and engaging; I was hooked after a few paragraphs. I highly recommend this to anyone with even the slightest predilection for sci-fi. If you enjoy sci-fi plus character relationships, you should love this.
Fantastic. You ever have a feeling like you are reading something important? Not in a preachy, political, or agenda-driven fashion, but just meaningful beyond the words on the pages or what's being delivered on the surface? It doesn't happen often for me, but it was clear early in the book that this one was special...at least to me. It was a combination of the complex, realistic characters, the interwoven storylines, writing style, setting, and content...really everything.
I'm not gonna go deep on a review. Just do yourself a favor and read it. I love sports, but hate hockey. I think being able to relate to the love of a team did play a part in my experience, but I'm not convinced that tie is essential.
Can't wait to read it again.
I picked this up as part of the first Storybundle offering. This really hits the beats you want out of a sci-fi novel...fast, customized ships, futuristic gadgets, space travel, AI, smuggling, and space humor. I will definitely be reading the sequel, as well as Lallo's fantasy titles. I love stumbling upon a new series and author like this. I highly recommend checking this one out.
