Feeling physically ILL after finishing this one.
I saw the last line everywhere and thought I knew how it was going to end - I didn't and the ending was better AND worse.
Realizing I never wrote a review but THIS BOOK WRECKED ME. It is so satisfying going through life with our protagonists, really feeling like we're living in their experiences, and, naturally, gaming a bit along the way.
I just reread this in March 2024, and I found myself so drawn in again.
For lovers of excellent books, stories that pull at your heartstrings, and gamers alike.
1 whole star for the Gigi plotline that was fab. Love a cliffhanger ending.
All to be said this book deserves to be banned tysm
I love being able to pick up a book and just disappear in it in one sitting - and this was the perfect fit.
Just what I needed. An easy unwind with a glass of wine book. Not the page turner that was Evelyn Hugo, but still roped you into everyone's individual stories as the night progresses.
If you like the Bachelor franchise, you'll love this book. Made my plus-sized heart so damn happy, 10/10.
I'd like to write “I want my words to collect dust” on my soul forever. Lovely collection of poems.
It took 150 pages to get interesting, and though I did enjoy how well the original series felt entwined despite it being a prequel, the ending was anti-climatic. Giving it a 3 purely because I'm a tried and true Hunger Games fan, and I loved all the little references to the original series.
The stories of being a young adult trying to make a living in NYC....that hit home for me.
Definitely a slow read. I enjoyed it, but I don't think I'd jump to recommend it. But, still a really beautiful story about how we are all dealing with our own shit, and you can't judge a book by its cover.
If they'd cut out the bit with the uncle, this book would be like 10x less problematic lol
A wonderful follow up, and a fantastic audiobook. Fans of Ready Player One will likely enjoy this world of sci-fi that doesn't feel all that far off.
