Why this book?
Samantha Irby's brutal honesty and storytelling gives me life! Especially when I laugh aloud in public and people stare. Irby's so relatable about just being a woman on this earth doing her very best every day and as an anxiety-riddled elder millennial I'm here for it.

Why this book?
Anthony Ray Hinton was wrongfully accused of murder by Alabama Police and a jealous ex-friend did the finger-pointing. Despite the racism and bigotry, Hinton didn't only hold space for himself on Death Row but he held space for others like Larry (convicted of lynching an black boy) by holding book clubs and open conversations with fellow inmates few other people could have. This book is a lesson in grace, humility, and the system racism inherent in all American government institutions.

Why this book?
This was less an autobiography about the road to the White House and subsequent presidency and more a class in civics and government. I also love Barack Obama's vulnerability and humbleness as he talked about all the relationship-building and nurturing as a father and husband when faced with so many challenges outside the home. He also talks candidly about how sometimes like everyone he falls short and what he learns from his mistakes. Great book.

Why this book?
Tiffany Haddish is as unapologetic as she is hopeful on the road to finding love and stardom. Hands down the audiobook is the best way to experience this one too because Haddish's voice and cadence are one-of-a-kind.
