If you want a warm, feelgood read, you can't go past Ally Blake's category romances.
Her characters make you smile and her sassy voice make the pages fly by.
Some authors are auto-buys for me, Ally Blake is one of them.
Barbara O'Neal's books are lush and evocative and beautifully written.
I can't recommend her highly enough.
She has a knack of tapping into human emotions that is truly wonderful.
Read her!
I haven't read too many category romances this year but the ones I've been lucky enough to pick up have been crackers!
This one is no exception.
Heidi Rice has a fabulously snappy voice and the heat between her characters Ruby and Callum is amazing! Sparks galore.
A seriously sexy read.
I love a feisty, strong-willed heroine and Ruby delivers in spades, more than a match for the alpha Cal.
Really enjoyed this.
I started this book yesterday and finished it today, between screaming deadlines, so that explains how much I enjoyed it.
I don't cry with books. Movies, yes, books no.
Linda Howard and Barbara O'Neal are the only other authors to ever make me cry and I can now add the talented Susan Wiggs to the group.
I bawled.
She has an amazing gift for tapping into a reader's emotions, by giving her characters realistic motivations and situations we can all identify with.
Even though my kids are young, I could empathise with the heroine (who's escorting her daughter to college and saying goodbye) because every milestone in a child's life and their growing independence is a little goodbye in its own right.
Thoroughly enjoyed this and still thinking about it many hours after closing the book.
Five stars to Barbara Hannay for this book, because I'm in awe of how she pulled it off: she's written a romance where the heroine and hero are barely on the same page together...and it works!
Most of the book is written in diary or email form. Amazing.
A refreshing concept and incredibly hard to pull off, Barbara Hannay does it with style.
I'm blown away that this book was written by a teenager.
Not because of the language or the way it was written but for the subject matter and the realistic way it is explored.
Sacha has a terminal disease and tries to commit suicide by drowning.
Jewel Valentine saves him.
Along with their friends True and Little Al, they explore a complex range of emotions in a beautiful, poignant, readable way.
I'm thoroughly impressed by Steph Bowe's debut and look forward to reading more from her.
SEP at her best.
She is the queen of small town rom-coms and this book highlights her skill in making a small town come alive.
Meg is a feisty heroine, the kind of strong-willed woman I love to see matching it with a sexy hero in Ted Beaudine.
With a host of secondary characters from her previous much-loved books, this one sparkled from start to finish.
Loved it!
This book made my head spin (in a good way!) with its breakneck pace.
Loved Jackson (and loved a YA from male POV) and his romance with Holly, his feelings for her a major motivator throughout the book for his actions.
I like a book grounded in solid conflict.
I also like interesting, layered secondary characters and Tempest had that in spades.
From an author's perspective, I'm in awe of how Julie Cross kept the plot timeline fluid in this book. Would've been a huge challenge to write! Kudos.
And it's definitely a ‘film' book, one I can see playing out on the big screen.
Curling up with a Marion Lennox book is like curling up with a cup of hot cocoa: warm, comforting and oh so sweet.
She has a way of creating realistic, flawed characters and bringing them together with seamless ease.
And this book has a hint of mystery as well as a cute kleptomaniac dog!
A satisfying read.
An absolute cracker of a read.
The sparks Nadia and Ethan generate burn up the pages.
You won't want to put this one down!
If you want a warm, heartfelt read tinged with humour and poignancy, this book is for you.
Dogs, kids, gorgeous hero, smart heroine, this book has it all.
Loved it.
A heart-warming small town contemporary romance.
Being Australian, I loved the Aussie heroine, Tildy, and her cultural clashes with the American hero Marc. Funny!
And the secondary characters complimented the story beautifully.
Enjoyable.
I loved Personal Demons so couldn't wait to get back into Luc, Frannie and Gabe's story.
Original Sin is nothing like I expected.
Still really enjoyed it but wow, did it veer into some ‘interesting' territory for YA.
Kept me riveted and turning pages to see what would happen next!
Looking forward to Hellbent to see how the series wraps up. It promises to be a ripper!
A poignant story packed with emotion, smiles and sizzle.
Started reading it in the wee small hours, made sure I finished it before I slept.
Enjoyed it that much :)
Dating and Other Dangers set the bar for me with Natalie Anderson's novels (I gave it an unabashed 5 stars, it was fabulous!) so I can't help but compare all her novels to that one.
I loved Walk on the Wild Side (4 1/2 stars).
Sizzling sex scenes, great tension and realistic characters made this a page turner.
Loved the heroine's quirkiness and the hero's take charge attitude with an underlying soft core.
Jack is hot!
Thoroughly enjoyed.
If I had to use a few words to sum up Inara Scott's debut category romance, they would be ‘category romance with substance.'
Inara pens a gorgeous, sexy hero in Brit, a hero with flaws who isn't afraid to admit them when it counts.
And the heroine Tori is a feisty, upfront heroine who I loved for her forthrightness, her confidence in her work and her vulnerability in her personal life.
Together, these two strong willed characters equal fireworks!
I laughed out loud at several one liners in this book, one of my favourites an example of Tori's forthrightness: she's mad at Brit, he asks if she's upset for a particular reason, her response:
“No, I'm upset because you're an asshole.”
I love an honest heroine and Tori is all that and more.
A highly enjoyable read.
This was my first Maisey Yates category romance and it won't be my last.
The intensity between the hero and heroine sucked me in completely.
Adham is a wonderfully torn alpha hero and Isabella an innocent princess, a perfect foil for his inherent darkness.
The sweeping drama and emotional see-sawing held me enthralled.
I adore the Maggie O'Dell series.
In this latest installment, the suspense starts off with a bang and the intrigue develops nicely, but the resolution of several plot points didn't live up to expectation.
Would love to see more character development between Maggie and Benjamin Platt too.
Looking forward to the next.
Intriguing premise, with revenge being the underlying theme.
Revenge with a paranormal twist!
The author nailed the YA voice perfectly too and the teenage angst really sucked me into the story.
Very unusual plot twist at the end to lead into more books in this series.
Enjoyable read.
If you enjoy capers, you'll have a ball reading Joan Kilby's rollicking fun Gentlemen Prefer Nerds.
From London to Melbourne to Hamilton Island, you'll smile at the antics of nerdy Maddie as she matches wits with the oh-so-sexy Fabian.
Fun!
This was my first book by Aimee Carson and I can sum it up in one word: WOW!
How to Win the Dating War is a sexy read with two mismatched characters that create major sparks.
Cutter has to be the hottest hero I've read in a long while. He's brash, blunt and incredibly drool worthy.
Jessica is a little prim and proper, and the perfect foil for his rough around the edges appeal.
The sexual tension sizzles off the page!
I loved every minute of this story and can't wait to read more from Aimee.
Highly recommend.
Sarah Mayberry writes delightfully realistic characters, the kind of folk who could live next door.
I enjoyed the subtle heat in this one and the conflicts between the characters.
Loved the hero Rhys. My kind of guy!
