Amazing book. It truly captured the essence of reading and the people who love it. The story just flowed, and I finished it before I knew it. Don't be mistaken though, this book is not just about reading. It also showed the journey of our protagonist in moving on from the heartbreak and finding her own true self. Also, the second part of the book did a really good job of fleshing out the existing characters and giving us a new perspective on those said characters.
I wish I get the chance to read all the authors mentioned in the book!
Perhaps due to gaining the motif from a fairytale, some told me that this
novel was like a long fairytale. Like how we dreamed happy dreams reading
fairytales when we were young, I hope that this novel will remain as a happy
memory to everyone. I wish everybody to be healthy and happy at all times!
Words of the author. I totally agree. Although reading a fairy tale sounds really cliche and childish, I have to say the book does well in tackling a lot of issues with childcare and body shaming. There's also another topic that I was surprised was brought up. It's a pretty big plot point, so I'm just going to put it as a spoiler.
Sabelian's forceful marriage consummation. It's really rare to see a plot point as big as this, honestly. The author does really well in conveying this and showing Sabelian's subsequent development as a person.
It would have been better if the book focused more on her as well. It did a very good job fleshing out the male lead, but Blanche was somewhat felt lacking. I hope the author explores her more and not just restrict her to being the fluff for our hearts. In fact, the last chapter somewhat teased it (I hope?). I liked her the way she was in this volume, really enjoyed reading her. I also want the scope of the plot to widen. The focus on family bonding was really nice. I hope the next volume goes beyond just that and also leverages the plot of Snow White, which I think was not used enough in this volume. Funnily enough, I even forgot it was the world of Snow White after reading for a while.
