See all( I'm tired of reading books that are so obviously part of series frown I'm just not willing to invest) reminded me of the TV series carnival. set a little earlier, before the depression. roaring twenties New York + flappers and drinking + occult religion and murder. it would make a fine movie/TV series of it's own. main character is sympathetic and flawed, the setting atmospheric and engaging. a little ya because of the ages of main POV characters, but not obnoxiously so. would recommend on the strength of being a decent paranormal thriller.
(some bastard has cut TWO pages out of this library book, I hope they serve you well ingrate) uh, I will never wear heels, but I could go for some nice flats. I'm overdue to go shopping and I have a real income for professional clothes so yeah. London admits to her own vulnerabilities while empathizing with her subjects and relying on some can-do attitude (I've never seen What Not to Wear) it's not inspirational in terms of styles or advice but a realization that I'm not longer an impoverished grad student (woo!) and I want a nice blazer ;)
Texas/Mexican retelling of three billy goats gruff. (immigration?!) includes glossary. <3 the illustrations.
